Your original files are still in tact after copying them into Hoster as KMA files.

That's a valid question, but here's a scenario: perhaps someone would like to make a custom cdg to use when they go to another show and it would be really easy to make a custom list and then burn. But then again this could get abused badly.:m

They can use Microstudio and make all the custom CDG's they want from the original files, assuming that is they have the original files.

quite true, and i do believe the above scenario could lend itself to piracy. but for the honest ones it would maker it easier since all the files are already on the HD

The reason I asked is that I also sing as well as do karaoke shows, so it would be good if you could possibly reverse the conversion and reci=ord them down to a disc so that I don't have to carry and set up my laptop when I am not doing a karaoke show.

If I were to use microstudio, it would mean burning individual tracks off from different discs which would take time.

Thanks for your answers and debates.

I am aware of a new product being worked on that will write KMA files back to CDG discs. That's all I can say now until they introduce the product. I have heard they expect to offer it before the end of August.

Beavis June 5th, 2006 02:47 PM

what do you mean they ??

One of the best reasons I can see for being able to convert from kma to cdg is from personal experience; I have over 12,000 titles in the kma format, Hoster (which has been a very stable product) locked up one night and I was without use of those files for a few days until I got the problem resolved. Unlike mp3's that can be played on several different programs (to get you by) if Hoster goes, your files are useless.

Exactly, just like when Windows goes your computer is useless.
