Having Skip Problems With Songs

I have been running all the hoster software versions from my Dell Inspiron 9200 for almost two years without any problems. Even when I transferred all the KMA files to an external hard drive I was fine. One day I am doing a show and towards the end of the Karaoke song, it all of a sudden would skip once. What is really odd is does not do this on every single song. I have no idea what could cause this probem. One note, I also run the same exact progaram on my old Dell Inspiron 9100 with no skip problems. I am currently running the latest verson, 3303. I could use some advice.

did you do any updates to the laptop ? or did windows do any auto updates ?

why dont you try restoring to an earlier date that it did work on.

I would say that it might be something going on at that point when it skips on your system. See what other programs are running.

You might also update your drivers for the sound card to see what happens with this.

you know, i did loose my sound driver after I had Dell replace the mother board and had to redownload the driver, but I believe I was having this skip problems before that. What is really odd is it doesn't do it on every single song. Most songs it does. I could reset the time on the computer, but it was months ago. I am running the Karaoke on my Dell 9100 currently and running my Ots DJ program on the Dell 9200. I have no skip problems with the Ots DJ program. Very interesting, isn't it. It may have something to do with the graphics portion of the program.

Any replies will be appreciated.

For a skip in the sound to occur, the only thing that I can think of is that something is going on in the system at that point that caused the audio to drop. Maybe something is taking the processor over for a second or however long the skip is.

Not much you can do for this, but to figure out what is causing it to happen when it occurs.

Read the Hoster Manual Troubleshooting Guide topic on preventing audio dropouts. There are several suggestions you should do to your computer to prevent audio dropouts.

When I have a person singing and I do a search during their number, the first time I do the search it cause the current song playing to skip. Then I can continue to search, and it doesn't skip. But it skips every single time i do my first search during somone's song. Also, if I try to import a cd while a person is singing, it totally wrecks the song playing, cg and everything.

Trelynda, start a new thread rather than tagging on the end of an old one. You will get better response that way. This was a totally different problem and from an older version.

You cant open import screen while a singer is performing.
you can import from the cdg button for a temp song,
once it is played it disapears.

If you can't even OPEN the Import Window when a song is Playing, then, what do you think trelynda was talking about?

See...using the word IMPORT interchangably to designate either Importing to the Database or TEMPORARILY importing a track from a Singer's disc to the Play List via the CDG button, as per:

As was pointed out, Hoster was designed with the Add Track CDG Button to allow you to TEMPORARILY import a track from a Singer's disc to the Play List, even move it into your Rotation Order, then after it plays, Hoster automatically deletes it.
is one of the biggest Fourm time wasters ever.

It seems to me, MTU needs a new hybrid term, such as, "AddIMPORTING."

Then everyone would understand what one was talking about when one POSTS about it.

gd123, the only post I find wasting others time is yours. When others are in here every day helping with POSITIVE, CONSTRUCTIVE ADVICE, whether you agree with it or not, and you come in blasting everyone with your attitude, that is wasting our time.

Maybe there is some confusion as to what I am saying. When I am conducting karaoke, prior to beginning, i search for the various songs and enter them into the list. Once karaoke begins, and people continue o sign up, I want to add to the list. If I wait to add to the list when no one is singing, that is in between songs, then there is no problem, obviously. If, while someone is singing, I go into the search mode, and conduct a search for a song someone has signecd up for, the song currently being sung skips when i hit enter on the search screen.

Beavis May 19th, 2007 07:08 AM

all you need to do is keep typing different numbers in the book ID the song will pop up automatically.

trelynda May 19th, 2007 01:12 PM

WITHOUT HITTING SEARCH? It is the act of hitting the search button or the enter button while someone is singing that makes the current song skip.

I've had a similar glitch on my slow machine, I just keep the search window open from the begining & leave it open all the time. Once it does the first search, it doesn't do it again. I attributed it to a slow machine that is loaded with crap - not my main show machine & running other programs at the same time.

Beavis May 19th, 2007 03:00 PM

you should update your audio and video drivers.

dont use windows update to do it. go to the manufacturers website and upgrade.

trelynda May 19th, 2007 03:32 PM

I tried leaving the search window openm and that did not work either.

I believe there were several work-arounds played with on various systems out there. It was sort of like "trying to cure the hiccups"; some worked and some different for different systems; some things worked only some of the time for the same system even!
