not reading d: drive

i just purchased a new portable pc with hoster and all the other softwares a few days ago. The d: drive (dvd/cdr) is not loading up as an active drive when i boot the computer up. The only way i've found it to work is to do a restart. How can i fix this problem?

Beavis April 25th, 2006 02:28 PM

what kind is it ?

d drive not reading at initial startup

the portable pc was purchased through MTU. the brand they used is the ideq by biostar. the only way i could get the computer to recognize that there is a d drive available is when i do a restart after i turn the computer on.

Beavis April 25th, 2006 03:42 PM

did you try updating the drivers ?

d: drive not present at startup.

i bought the computer less than a week ago. all the drivers should be updated. the computer was shipped to me with that problem. if i need to update the driver, how would i go about approaching it? why is it booting up only when i do a restart? hey beavis, do you work for mtu? i appreciate the help either way but i would like to know if i'm dealing with a mtu representative. thanks

Beavis Cox, it has a ring to it. :) :) :) :) :)

The only thing I can think of that might cause this is maybe something in the Bios is not initializing on the first boot.

I know what I am trying to get you to do, but can't find it in the manual. I don't have one of these systems here to look at to tell you exactly.

I will try to find your name and give you a call. If I don't call you by this afternoon please give me a call.

d: drive not reading at startup.

hi bryan, i am still having the problem. please give me a call at 512-694-5826. i tried leaving a message with doug cox and he hasn't return my phone call. he told me to call him if i had any problems since i bought everything through him. the system is also acting up in other areas such as during import. i would like to talk to a representative directly if possible. this forum is little difficult for me to follow up on.

thanks,

david.
