Build Database Shows Wrong Song Count

Currently I have 12,000 KMA songs on my hard drive. When I do a song edit and rebuild the data base it shows I have over 36,000 songs. Has anyone had this problem? When the rebuild finishes it shows the correct count.
As long as the final cout comes out right I guess it's alright. It's just scarey to see a larger number than what I actually have.

i would do A search and see if your kma's have triplicated. i wouldnt want 3 copies per hard drive. lot of space wasted.

I have 12,000 songs on the hard drive that's the first thing I checked. The number that shows when I build a data base is never the same. Sometimes it's tripled and sometimes it's doubled sometimes it's some odd number but when it finishes it always shows the correct count. It's not a big deal as long as the count comes out ok. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced this. Thanks for your quick response.

when you rebuild your database if you first get rid of the songs mdb and the back up songs mdb and then rebuild your data base you will see the right number of songs

hoster does not over write the database it adds to it

hope this helps

If I remove the songs.mdb and the songs backup.mdb will that mess up all the editing I did on the songs? I have spent a lot of time editing songs and artist so they appear right. I would hate to lose all of that. I will save the datbase to another folder and give it a try. Thanks for the help.

Please answer these questions:

1. What version of Hoster are you using?

2. When you edited your files, did you use Hoster's Tool menu Edit Songs command, or did you edit the Songs.mdb database directly?

Knowing these, we can answer your questions better.

i dont think so, MTU wouldnt have made the software to do that. that is if you used the edit in the tools menu.

I use Hoster 3.120. I like the way it works. Never had a problem with it.

I edit the songs with the edit songs command under tools.

Thanks for the info guys...

Do as Mike stated and try deleting the songs.mdb and songs_backup.mdb.

Then see what it shows when you build the database.

I did what Mike suggested and removed the songs.mdb and the backup.mdb. When I ran the build songs database it did the oppsosite. Now the bogus number is in the begining. For example it shows Currently Processing Song Batabase track 23495 of 1200 but when the process is finished it shows the correct count of 1200. The same thing happens on the PC and the laptop. This just started recently. It never did this before. No big deal as long as the count comes out OK and the song book is correct. Again thanks for the help.

This may be a bug that was not known under Hoster 3.120 and it may now be fixed under Hoster 3.303 as there were alot of changes from that version.
