moving songs from "lite" to "full" version

I have just upgraded from Hoster lite to full version. How do I move the songs from the lite to the full version. Both versions are still on my computer but my songs are only on the lite version. Also please explain how I back up these files.

Thanks Kathy

You need to tell Hoster where your tracks are stored.

Click TOOLS, then click BUILD SONG DATABASE, then click SELECT FOLDER.

Now set the path to the folder where your tracks are stored.

The bottom section under SONGS DATABASE DESTINATION FOLDER should be reading: C:\Program files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Databases

If it doesn't, then change it so it does and click BUILD SONG DATABASE.

That should get it.

Still no luck

Thanks George,

I am still not having any luck. I'm not sure which file exactly my songs are in in the hoster lite. All I know is that I have imported them all properly and been playing them with no problem. I have followed your instructions. The destination folder is
C:\Program Files\Micro TechnologyUnlimited\Hoster\Databases\.
Which is the same as you said but with "Hoster" in there too. Is this correct? When I did what you said, using the Hoster lite file as source, it says
Successfully created 0 entry 'songs.mdb' database in:C:\Program files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Databases. And there are still no songs in there.

Is this how you back up the file in the Hoster lite? I have never done that before but have just tried to and it says the same thing.

Regards Kathy

Go into Hoster Lite, click on TOOLS, Click on BUILDSONG DATABASE, and in the block directly under SELECT FOLDER, take note of the folder where the tracks are stored.

Then open Hoster and repeat the process. Make sure the path to the folder reads the same as it does in Hoster Lite by clicking on SELECT FOLDER, and tracing the path to your songs folder.

Yes, your SONGS DATABASE DESTINATION FOLDER should include Hoster and read:

C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Databases

Sorry I overlooked including Hoster in my post above. :f

Taker care,

George

No luck

Hi George,

I'm almost in panic mode now. I have done what you said and still no luck. Not only that but I now cannot find any songs in my hoster lite (except the ones already in playlists). I tried the process you explained in Hoster lite thinking that maybe the file I was trying to move from lite to full had not yet been created as I had never done it before. In lite the source folder was
C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimite\Hoster Lite\
and the destination folder is
C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimite\Hoster Lite\Database
When I did that I got the same response as I did in the full version ie: 0 songs.
Now when I do a search for a song it says no songs matched.

I am supposed to be doing a show tonight and only upgraded to full version for the songbook facility. You can see why I'm now in panic mode.

Thanks for your help Kathy

Don't understand what's happening.

Try doing a system restore to an earlier point in time and see if that will fix Hoster Lite for you.

undid system restore. Where do I go now for help?

In lite the source folder was
C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster Lite\
(Revised Quote - See info emphasized in RED that was missing from the original Quote. Emphasis added to correct missing info in original Quote.)

If this is correct, then make:

C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster Lite\

your SONG SOURCE FOLDERS in Hoster
.

You can't change the bottom where it shows your SONGS DATABASE DESTINATION FOLDER. Hoster and HosterLite automatically assign this Folder.

In HosterLite, make your SONG SOURCE FOLDERS:

C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster Lite\

and your HosterLite will work again.

Assuming you are referring to Folders, no matter the spelling, as stated, to recap, DO THIS to BOTH PROGRAMS as per #1 below and make sure #2 shows what is stated and perform #3 for HOSTER:

For HOSTER
#1 SONG SOURCE FOLDERS=
C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster Lite\
#2 SONGS DATABASE DESTINATION FOLDER=
C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Databases\
#3 Click the BUILD SONG DATABASE Button

For HOSTERLITE
#1 SONG SOURCE FOLDERS=
C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster Lite\
#2 SONGS DATABASE DESTINATION FOLDER=
C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster Lite\Databases\

Post the results.

I know that if you are creating zero song databases, it is because you are selecting a folder that does not have the songs located there. I did this last night by mistake..but simply went to the correct location and all was fine.

If Kathy C understood what it meant to point Hoster to the Folder where her KMAs are located, she would have already done it.

She doesn't understand. That's why she needs step-by-step instructions.

kathy,

you stated that you pointed to "C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimite\Hoster Lite\ " as being where your songs were located. That is why you are not finding the songs. You need to point it to where the .kma (songs) are. Then it can read the headers and create the songs list.

gduns - with the Lord March 3rd, 2006 11:50 AM

actually make sure hoster is not running.

1.) go to C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster Lite\Database

2.) copy songs.mdb

3.) paste songs.mdb into C:\ProgramFiles\MicroTechnologyUnlimited\Hoster\Database

click the hoster icon, and everything should be there

Thank you

Hi guys, thanks for all your help. I have finally worked it all out after doing a search on my .kma files. found out where they were, moved them to the hoster songs then built the songs database with the correct source folder.

Thank you sooooooooooooooo much.:g :w :) :r from Kathy
