KMA files imported from Hard Drive to Hard Drive

I have had my software now for about 9 months and have had a lot of trouble getting my CDG's to load (about 200 of 505 so far). I now have a copy on my home PC and this past weekend, between my two computers were able to get about 63 discs loaded. My problem is I want the songs and ???files that relate those songs to the search in Hoster 3.301 is something I haven't accomplished yet. The songs are no problem to move to my exterior 300 gig hard drive. But the search (in Hoster) on my laptop will not find the new songs. Can you help???

Thanks,
j1bobby

rebuild your database.

if you imported on 2 computers and you didnt use a network, you will have duplicate book id's

rebuild your database

To rebuild your database: click Tools menu, Build Songs Database command.

However... if you imported songs on a different computer and copied them to your show computer hard drive, then you want to merge your KMA files. This will add the files copied to the hard drive(versus imported into the Songs Database), AND automatically renumber any duplicate BookIDs that may exist, which is very likely.

To merge songs into your database: click Tools menu, Merge KMA Files Command

Both commands are described in the manual, and I recommend you read it. :w

Added new Merge KMA Files Command - This new Tools menu command above the Build Songs Database command can renumber duplicate BookID entries in KMA files. It allows specifying one or more NEW folders that contain KMA files not currently in the Songs Database. When run, they will be added at the end, and set the New Release counter. This allows importing songs from other sources, not only recorded on this Hoster computer. If any tracks are imported, they set the New Release counter so you can print these pages for your Song Book, instead of reprinting the entire Song Book.
its in the manual

I see. Although my songbook requires specific song numbers that match existing bookID's already used, therefore, this would create bookID's that would not match my existing song #'s. I would always need to create songs from one computer, import them, then copy to the other computer almost immediately, which is what I do.

Just be sure and keep track of your BOOKIDs and don't create any duplicates.....then you won't have any problems :-)

I split this thread to separate it from Gduns original message about reading the manual.

I am copying my external drive to my c:\ drive and when I rebuild song database I have "4" duplicates. I am not very computer illiterate. We are trying to operate without external drives but I am confused about the "duplicate id" thing. Is this only a problem when trying to connect the external drive while having the same files on my c drive. I'm not really understanding and would really appreciate some help. Do I rebuild database or merge kma's?
