Need Help, music and graphics not together

I have a gateway notebook MX7525,

Operating System:MS Win XP with sp#2

Processor: Mobile AMD Athlon 64 processor 4000+

Memory: 1024 MB DDR

Video: ATI Mobility Radeon X600

HD: 100GB

I have converted all my cdg to kma's. Sometime they start and play fine. other times the music starts way befor the graphics do and they never catch up with the music. So if someone where to try and sing they would end up singing about 10 seconds behind the music.

Weird thing is it only does it sometimes. But I can't find any reason for it to start or stop it. And as it is I can't us this can't us this computer for my shows untill I can get it to work, without fail.

Any help would be great.

Thanks, Tim Baker

I just got hoster last week so I have 3.301, and the computer says my driver is up to date when I tried that.

Tim,

There's a PLAYBACK OFFSET in the TOOLS section.

See if that will correct the situation.....if not then try adjusting the hardware accellerator. To do this:

1-Click START, RUN, type in DXDIAG and click OK.

2- When the pages are loaded, click on the SOUND 1 tab.

3-In the DIRECTX FEATURES block, move the slider under STANDARD ACCELLERATION left to the halfway point.

If that improves it, but still not entirely in sync, or doesn't improve it at all, go back in and move the slider further to the left.

If no change at all you can always move the slider back where it started.

If neither of the above cures the situation, there's something else wrong.

I tried the Playback Offset first, it's off as much as 10 to 15 sec sometimes so thats not helping. I tried your second suggestion, and I thought it worked but only for the first three songs I played, then started doing it again on the forth.

I'v also found that it does it even if you are playing the same song over and over.

Make sure the laptop is plugged in to A/C. It will do that if you run on batteries.

Now that's sure an enlightening statement :e

i dont mean windows video drivers, i meant from the manufacturer.

Ok I have more news, I've been playing with it this morn and I found out that if I open hoster the song will not play right but if I change the settings "DIRECTX FEATURES" as George suggested it will fix the prob and the song will play normaly.

But if I close hoster I have to chage the setting again to make it play right. Also it doesn't seem to matter if I move the ACCELLERATION up or down. Just chaging it fixes the prob as long as hoster doesn't close. Or atleast it seem to work, duno how it would do over a long period of time "like during a show".

Hope this helps.

Tim

P.S. I do have it on plugged in to a/c, figured that might be the prob last night lol, no help

I'm not sure how to check my video driver. Where do I look?

Beavis February 10th, 2006 10:50 AM

heres a place where you can get the drivers.

ATI Drivers

do so at your own risk, if you dont know how or what to upgrade, ask a pro !

When you make the changes are you clicking on save all information after you make the changes?

2shadow February 13th, 2006 12:07 AM

Nope I haven't been saveing it. I did the first time but it asked where I wanted to save it so I just canceled it.

Just click on the save all information. It will take you to a default location and save it where ever it says. Then you shouldn't have any proplems. You won't have to change it again.

George February 13th, 2006 08:06 AM

I don't believe that has anything to do with it.

I believe the SAVE ALL INFORMATION feature allows you to save the complete DirectX file to a text file and has nothing to do with applying the change made in the hardware accelleration. The setting on the slider remains where it's put.

George

MTUSUPPORT February 15th, 2006 04:58 PM

George is correct, as that saves the DX information to a .txt file.
