Curious about duplicate Book ID's
I recall reading in an earlier post about having duplicate book ID's. What exactly is this and how does it occur? Do two songs have the SAME book ID? I would want to always avoid this, what is the best way to never let it happen?

If you have Hoster 3.3 I understand it doesn't happen. I used to have some but since I upgraded I don't have anymore. When you rebuild your song database it will tell you.

Do you recall what the initial cause was?
Larry,
Do you remember what the initial cause might have been? Was it caused by a transfer of files from one computer to another, perhaps? Really curious. In other words, why would two songs have the same ID in the first place? |

Duplicate Book ID
I have the latest 3.30 version of hoster. I import into 1 computer. Somehow I started getting duplicate bookids. Now every disk I import apparently ends up with a duplicate book id and therefore does not show up for play. It seems to be happening with disc not in the hoster song database where i edit the titles and performers myself since they are not there.
However, bottom line, this duplicate bookid was supposed to be fixed in 3.2 and I can't make this work. I have touted how great this program is to our local DJ association and now I am somewhat taken aback since my latest discs do not show up. Somebody tell how to fix this without reimporting 500 cds. Thanks Wendell |
Before I upgraded to 3.3 I used to duplicate ID,s. When I upgraded and rebuilt the song database, it didn't say anything about having and duplicates.

Wendell, if your newly imported songs are not showing up, the only thing I can figure is the destination you are importing them into has changed. When you rebuild the database, is the number getting larger? I'm a bit confused about how duplicate files happen too, since for a long time Hoster will tell you if a book ID is already in use, however I know they manage to happen. :s
