Mark Song function Not Working

My Mark Song Text File seems to have a problem...When I open to view my notes it has the note I typed, but not the bookid title and artist related to that note. I did type the note while the song is playing.

Any sugestions ?

I have had this same problem for quite some time. I have posted the issue several times but this seems to not be priority to Hoster Support Team.:s

ddouglass January 10th, 2006 11:18 PM

I had this happen after I had deleted the file to clear it for new entries. The first couple of entries didn't have the BookId, Title, or Artist listed, but when I used the file the second nite all the entries were added.

Could it be that we need to create a blank text file after deleting the old one to make this work right?

It should just work, as all it is doing is putting the Database Information into a .txt file.

I will send this to them to look at again.

This bug was found in Hoster 3.120. It was identified and fixed in Hoster 3.300 Beta 7.

If you haven't upgraded to 3.300, please do so.

If you have upgraded and are running 3.300 and still have this problem, please post back here as we didn't fix the bug if it is still present.

I am running version 3.3 and actually didn't have the problem show up in the earlier versions.

Blastenfrog January 13th, 2006 03:46 PM

I am running 3.3 and I still have the problem also. I also had the problem in earlier versions.

This problem was fixed in 3.300, as testified by ddouglas' post above. It is very hard for me to believe that it still exists. This is very simple code...

Did you REMOVE the 3.120 or prior version you ran before installing 3.300? :?

If not, please do so now, test the Mark Song and post your results back here.

We will have a programmer review the code again if you still have the problem after doing a REMOVE and INSTALL again.

Blastenfrog January 14th, 2006 01:47 PM

yes i did and cleaned the registry.

George January 14th, 2006 03:58 PM

I just tried mine using 3.300, and here's a copy and paste from Notepad of what I got. Exactly as it should be..........

C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\MarkSong.txt

BOOKID SONG NAME ARTIST NAME
PATH
TEXT

16701 APPLES, PEACHES, PUMPKIN PIE POLKA NONE
C:\HOSTER SONGLIST\167-1.kma

Very interesting. That is telling me there is something on your computer that is causing this.

MTUSUPPORT needs to address this with you. If we can discover what is causing this on your computer, he can build a FAQ to address it in the future.

Admin please re-read my post as I said I DIDN'T have the problem show up until after I upgraded to 3.3. As added information this only happened after deleting the text file after I had fixed all the problem songs.

admin January 17th, 2006 12:59 PM

We'll have to get a programmer to check on what happens when you delete the .txt file after it is created.

Beavis January 17th, 2006 01:15 PM

theres a new sheriff in town :g

i would have done it for you David, but i dont have that privilege :g :g :g

Can't say from a programming standpoint, but had no adverse effects deleting the MARK SONG .txt file.

First I deleted the entire file and experienced no problems importing a track or playing.

Then I set up a new .txt file with two songs in it, highlighted and deleted just one of the entries, also with no problems.

George, I don't think anyone has had a problem importing or playing a track. The problem is with recording "all" of the required information when you "Mark Song". :r

How did you set up a new marksong.txt file? By using the Mark Song function or just using Windows "New Text File" feature to create an empty "marksong.txt" file?:?

The problem only happen to me once (I have only deleted the file once) and it is only the first couple of entries. After that the file has behaved itself and recorded all data for the entries. So currently I have 2 entries with just the note text and 4 or five full entries. :c

George January 17th, 2006 10:14 PM

Wanted to make certain nothing else was affected by deleting .txt files.

Used Mark Song function to set up new file.
