Hoster 3.3 Video Problems

All of my Music Videos were imported using Nero as MP4 (MPEG4). This ext is not listed, but all files, pulls them into Hoster & will play them in a window on my computer screen, but no music can be heard.

I also have some AVI & MPG extensions that are actully home videos. With these I can hear sound, but I can't get the video screen to go to my second display. Clicking on it doesn't help. I can stretch it, but can't even move it around on the computer screen...Wayne

I'm not familiar with mpeg4 so I can't help there but on the second part: Play a KMA using the resized screen not full screen (you may have to double click your full screen). Stretch it till it fills the screen and slide it over to your tv. and then double click it to take it back to full screen. Now when you play videos it will be on the full resized screen while KMA will still be full screen.

Thanks, but this did not help

Are video files playing for everyone else they way they expect/desire them to play. I am wondering if I am the only one with this problem. I Know the MP4 format probably wasn't planned to work, but other formats that are listed don't work properly either...Wayne

Generally, video formats that Hoster 3.3 supports are working. There are some random problems, such as some manufacturer's VCD discs not showing the video.

With any file format, there can be unique changes made by any application program. The Video player we have in 3.3 is from Microsoft. Thus, it can be expected to support the "standards".

No video with VCD

I finally got to upgrade to Hoster 3.3. First of all, I was amazed at the speed at which it upgraded. I wasn't sure it took. First thing I tested was downloading the last track on some Sound Choice discs.....YES!!!!!! Then, I tried to download some VCD.....namely , U-BEST JDVN-009. Downloaded, imported, sound...black screen. Then, I tried SUPER HITS VCDSH-047. Same thing, sound...black screen. I checked with the manual. Am I missing something? In the previous post, it stated that some brands of VCD will not work. I tried to get it to work on the Hoster screen, you know, as if a singer brought their own discs. If I use CDG, black screen, if I use " Video ", a file screen pops up. Not sure what to do their.

I'm still having video problems. Black screen on my TV monitor. I'm looking for help and the last advice I got was video card problem. I have an ATI X700 and 'Overlay' 'Theater Mode' being greyed out and not allowing me to select 'same as source video' could be my problem. Now it's 'what do I do about it? Anyways, explore the video card angle as well.

Ok, I see. Now, when I realized that there wasno video, I went to edit songs and deleted the discs I downloaded. Problem is, all were deleted except for three songs. The message came up " Hoster cannot delete....=32.

Possibly you couldn't delete it because you tried to play it? Close/reopen Hoster and try again. Worse comes to worse you could delete it through Windows and the delete/ and rebuild the database.

Wonder if what you did could be Smallens problem as well?

It's important to remember that not all CD drives will read Video CDs. With Hoster's new upgrade - most CD drives will work, but not all. The best results come from having a Plextor drive. If you get a blank screen and no audio, chances are, your drive will not read VCDs. There's nothing Hoster can do with these drives.

A suggestion: Purchase an external drive with USB attachment to your computer. The Plextor PX-708UF2 or PX-716UF are great.

Don't think so, the video files I'm working with are AVI and MPEGS converted from analogue in from my NLE. I can play these files on my desktop Hoster but not on my laptop.

Thanks for posting this. It does prove that the problem is in your Laptop, not with Hoster.

I'd suggest you post your own thread on this problem. Posting under Wayne's "hides" your need for technical help.

Post is called 'Video Display Problems in 3.300', early January.
