Reinstall Question

History:

Purchased Microstudio V2.200 in May 2001
Purchased Upgrade V2.609 in January 2005
Computer crashed in May 2005
Reloaded ok because OS was only issue
Still having problems so bought new computer

I have original purchase email with Serial code
I have orginal upgrade purchase with registration code

I downloaded the upgrade again and am trying to install without original file as it seems to have overwritten it during upgrade and I cannot copy the program over to the new computer.

I tried email address from original plus Serial #
I tried new email from upgrade plus Serial #
I tried email address from original plus upgrade registration #
I tried new email from upgrade plus upgrade registration #

Do I have to purchase the whole thing again just to get it to install?
What else can I try?
The basic message is that I do not have the right registration information.

Please post the EXACT text of the eror message that appears when you enter the Registration Email and Registration Code that are in the SAME download instruction email.

IGNORE the upgrade RegCode and its Email.

You should not need to buy another copy unless... you have given your RegCode away to others who have used your other 2 computer installs. Post the error text and we'll work on it from there.

Yes, you are correct. I forgot to mention I do have two computers loaded with Microstudio, one of which is my allowable backup. I did not realize that would make a difference.

I resent the implication that I am a software thief and feel that the comment that I had distributed it to others was uncalled for. I do try to operate in as honest of a way as possible, but one would think that after almost five years of having your program, it might be possible for the software to need to be reloaded more than once or maybe even twice.

I am now at a loss for a solution. Please do advise.

The error message says:

The usual problems are 1) an Upgrade Registration code has been entered instead of your original registration code, 2) the entered email address is not what is on the download instruction email, which is the registration email you must enter.

I'm sorry you are having a problem registering.

I apologize for mentioning the problem of giving a RegCode to others. I was honestly addressing your question about whether you needed to buy another copy or not.

I expect you and our other honest customers have no idea how bad software theft is today, and how we at MTU must deal with this every day. When theft is "in your face" all day long, it is hard to not mention it as I did above. Please, forgive me. :s

If you have your original Registration Code and Registration Email address, from the download instructions email you originally received when you ordered Microstudio, they are what you need to enter.

Ignore the Upgrade code and its email.

When the ORIGINAL RegCode and RegEmail are entered together in the correct fields, Microstudio should register immediately over the Internet. Sometimes the Internet may be running slow and the installation registration script may "time out" and terminate before registration can finish. If so, try again in an hour or so. If you are noticing your Browser on the Internet being slow, if you're having trouble registering, you many want to wait until the Internet speeds up to try again.

Please post your results back here so we know you are running, or can put MTUSUPPORT on digging to find out what is wrong. We did switch to a new web site and upgraded our registration scripts and databases, so there is a chance that your database record or RegCode may have been corrupted. Your posted results will guide us to look deeper for those types of problems on our web site.

What version of Microstudio are you installing?

What version of windows are you running?
