connecting wires

Can you be a little more specific about how to hook up wires for the TV screen from a laptop. I am plugging into the Headphone jack and get sound from the vocopro unit, and the lyrics come up on the laptop, but nothing on the TV monitor. I purchased a Sound Blaster Audigy2 for notebooks (cuz someone told me that's what I needed) but I still cannot get any lyrics/graphics on the TV Monitor. Thanks!

does your computer support dual display ??? if so you need to extend your desktop.

I don't know about your particular card but generally speaking the headphone jack is adequate for headphones but usually less than desireable for a line level signal for your mixer. Your card should have either an 1/8" mini jack (other than the headphone), or RCA line level outs for your audio.

And like Beavis said if your graphics card is dual display you can plug your tv into the svideo/rca video out and extend your desktop. If it is not dual display you won't be able to have a separate screan for lyrics although there are adaptors to show your computer screen on a tv.

Can you tell me more about the adapters?

mindonstrike August 30th, 2005 05:51 PM

Assuming you have just one VGA out:
I did a quick and dirty search at pricewatch.com.
I couldn't find a one size fits all adaptor but did find a couple when used together should work (for turning a tv into a second computer monitor).

http://www.callcct.com/s.nl/sc.2/cat...it.A/id.289/.f
This will split your VGA out into 2VGA outs.

http://www.cableclub.com/product_inf...roducts_id=460
and this will convert one of those VGA outs to an Svideo and/or RCA out.

With a bit more searching might have found a single adaptor to do both jobs.
A dual display card is a much better way to go if you can.

Thanks for checking out what I might need. I went from a little singer karaoke machine to a $800 Vocopro to trying to use my laptop. Everything is greek to me. I can't seem to plug all these wires and adapters in so they work. I seem to be CLUELESS! The reason I decided to try my laptop is that my new vocopro will not play many of my discs properly, or at all. I bought a gigmaster for $200 for someone else, and that plays all of my discs that my new vocopro will not. So I got fed up and thought I should become digital. Now I have a Plextor716UF that I thought was a hard drive. A laptop that I can't get to play on the TV Monitor. Hoster and MTU--that I don't understand the difference in the two. And it was suggested that I not bother with a laptop, but then what would I do with the Plextor716 and Hoster, and MTU? Garage sale!

If you are referring to the SND (SInger Name Display. Yep
Just grab a side or a corner stretch it the way you want it and then slide it over to your TV. It'll disappear during a song and then re-appear afterwards.

Sam,

The SND doesn't necessarily "disappear". It gets hidden by the singer's screen.

If you want the SND to display while the singer's screen is on, just re-size the singer's display and make room for the SND. Many of the KJ's prefer it that way. It's a matter of choice.

What I meant was disappear from view, not disappear altogether

I kicked around the idea of mentioning that but decided it might confuse/complicate their understanding of a relatively simple feature.

I personally like to stretch it to the point that it hangs over onto the computer screen so it's an easy one click operation to bring back into view during song outros instead of having to double click the SND button twice.
