Dual Cards Extended Windows
 

I run a karaoke show with computer monitors. One monitor for my computer for me to work from (Primary Monitor), One monitor for the singers to sing from and one monitor for the audience to see (Secondary Monitors). Both Secondary Monitors are Computer Monitors and run in windows extended display mode, and when playing they only show the words. This works beautifully with the Radeon 9250. However some bars I go to have TV Monitors which means I am able to connect my S-video out from my ATI 9250 directly into into the AV socket at the back of there TV monitors then set there monitors to AV. This also works but the problem I'm having is that the singers monitor is a Computer Monitor and when I go to settings within the display panel and switch to TV Monitor my singers computer monitor goes blank if I then switch to Computer Monitor the TV monitor goes blank. Is it not possible to have the TV Monitor and the Computer Monitor on at the same time in windows display extended mode.

I'll be grateful if anyone has a solution to this problem.

I looked up your video card on ati site. I have attached the users manual. The way it reads you can't connect 2 computer monitors and the tv at the same time.

Are there any Dual Display Cards that can do this.

Seems like when using two tv's in extended mode, using an s-video to RCA adapter, and then a Y signal splitter should work if the tv's have RCA video inputs, which most tv's have these days.

I use a s-video to RCA adapter with RCA cable to the tv and it works fine. Don't see that adding a splitter and another tv should make any difference.

Both the s-video to RCA adapter and the Y signal splitter are available through Radio Shack.

I think they are using both vga outputs out of the computer. One for the host and one for the singer. With most video cards you can't use two vga outputs and the svideo all together. I have a shuttle computer and you can't use the svideo if you have two vga monitors hooked to the computer. Check this item out at Tiger Direct, It should let you do what you need to.

I think you misunderstood what I said.

Don't use the vga outputs.

Use just the the svideo output with the svideo/rca adapter and a Y splitter for the two tv's. Then they'd have the program on the pc and singer's screens in extended desktop on two tv's...right?

The tv's must have RCA video inputs to do that.

That's what I do with one tv. Adding a simple Y splitter for the second tv should make no difference...

As I recall, my ATI Radeon 7500 came with the svideo/RCA adapter. Don't know if they still do that or not. It's been three years or so since I got it, and times change :)

Splitter for Audience TV?
 

I'm wondering if they make a splitter to split the video - one end for a monitor, and one end an RCA Video jack? This would work so that you could have a computer monitor for the singer and a tv for the audience. Does anyone know if this type splitter is available? If so, where can it be purchased?

i have 2 video converter that has a vga out to 1 vga , s-video and rca in and it supports vga resolution 640 x 480@ 60/72/85 hz, 800 x600 @ 60/75 hz, 1024 x 768 @ 60/75 hz, simutaneous output of vga, s-video and rca signals, and it can syncronize display of pictures on both the computer monitor and tv display.. both pc/mac , pal/ntsc supported cost me $26.00 just can't remember the on line store where i got it from, if you search for it it's called video converter model # LKV 2000, and the other one was kinda expensive it's called maxview "pc to tv converter ". and both of these works weather you only have a vga out on your laptop/pc..

Most of the newer laptops (video cards) don't support s-video anymore, I found that most newer, high-end laptops are supporting direct connection to hdmi port from computer to hdmi port on HD Tv's, such as plasma's, and lcd's, and led's. Good source for cable's ( rca, s-video, and now hdmi ) is www.monoprice.com, as they are very competitively priced, and ship very fast...:c

that's what i got ,i got it for $26.00 from www.monoprice.com, (now that you mentioned it), i have 3 Dell optiplex sx280 workstation pc and it has no s-video out just vga , this came with a y adapter from vga to vga/hdmi cable ( white )..and the LKV2000 worked with these pc's..

It has all the right connections to make it work, I hope it works! I just need to connect my external monitor from my laptop and then an audience TV.
They had another one called Maxview which you could hook up to an external monitor and two TV's! That one was about $159 or so. I don't need all that though. I figure once I get it out to at least one tv, I could split it to other tvs (if needed) with a regular RCA splitter. $32.95 was an okay price to pay that's about what you pay for a RF modulator. I haven't had to use a modulator for years since they start putting the RCA jacks on tvs. Thanks for your help. I tried looking for one of these earlier this week and couldn't find one because I did not know what it was called! Sure makes a difference when you know the name or model! I appreciate your help very much!

i have maxview too, you're probably talking about the studio type maxview which cost $159, the one i have is just a regular maxview pc to tv converter ( white & blue ) i paid $99. but that was a while back this one will work with a pc/laptop that doesn't have an s-video out, you don't need a y-cable once you got the LKV 2000, you can hook-up 3 lcd/tv monitors as long as they have all the 3 inputs ( rca/s-video and vga ) i have a 52" lcd flat screen tv that i use whenever i have a gathering over my house and this adapter works great, and also a 19" lcd/tv/monitor in my garage that i use just to learn new songs using these adapters are great.rf adapter is a pain in the butt to use and usually that is used for old tv, these cables are to stiff and i have never used one..

these adapters are made for stationary use, you need to get a male to female s-video adapter ( if you used the s-video input ) they tend to break easy they are so brittle, just plug the m/f adapter to the s video input and leave it plugged in, when done playing just pull the s-video cable out.
