Song playing Time remaining

Hello. I had 3.108 briefly but moved to 3.110, but I saw the following issue on both. I start a song playing (KMA or MP3). The time remaining timer is counting down. I open a hoster window (search) or dragging the preview display around. The song continues to play normally, however, the timer stalls until I complete my action listed above. I do not like this! Because I watch the timer and get ready to call up my next singer or work the search or any other things. I don't recall the timer stalling in previous versions. Thanks!

Can you tell us more about exactly what you are doing (what button you clicked, what you do within a dialog box, etc.) that makes the counter stop. We did have to play with the Interupt Priorities some and may have gone too far on a particular dialog box.

Keep this in mind:

If a dialog box is MODAL, meaning while it is up you can NOT click into the Playlist window or elsewhere, it will stop all display operations on the Playlist screen.

If a dialog box is MODLESS, meaning while it is up you CAN click into the Playlist window, then all operations should continue as normal. The SEARCH window is the ONLY one in Hoster that is MODELESS that can appear while you are in the Playlist.

3.110 timer

I am on the normal playlist display. While I am playing a KMA song, if I do the any of the following, the song will continue to be heard, however the timer will freeze until the following actions are complete.
On "ADD TRACK": pushing "AUDIO".
On "ADD TRACK": pushing "MP3G".
Push "SEARCH" button: grabbing search box to move it.
Preview box: grabbing preview box to move it.
Try it, I don't think you will like it!

That's not entirely true. if you'll watch closely, when performing one of those actions, the timer only appears to freeze, because when you let off whatever you were doing, the timer does not continue from the freeze point, but restores to where it should be if the action had never been done, and continues on accurately. The timer in fact was counting down as it should, it only appears frozen for the duration of the interuption.

No real harm done.

At least that's what's happening here.

On "ADD TRACK": pushing "AUDIO". ADMIN NOTE: This is a MODAL dialog, nothing can update while it is visible.

On "ADD TRACK": pushing "MP3G". ADMIN NOTE: This is a MODAL dialog, nothing can update while it is visible.

Push "SEARCH" button: grabbing search box to move it. ADMIN NOTE: This is a MODELESS dialog, but while doing a search, it will take full focus from the PLaylist display. Same with click and dragging the dialog box.

Preview box: grabbing preview box to move it. ADMIN NOTE: Click and dragging the dialog box will take full focus from the PLaylist display.

There is nothing that can be done in these cases. This is a WINDOWS limitation. We'll take a look at our Interrupt Priorities, but from what you and George have posted here, this is the EXPECTED BEHAVIOR. :s

timer count down

Thanks for the replys. OK, if thats the way it is. Another thing I discovered regarding this. I open the search box, I type in my search word and press title or artist. I get my results. When I use my up or down scroll arrows inside the search box, my timer LOOKS frozen while Im scrolling. Again, I use my timer alot, and I think others KJ do too. I used 3.110 last night and so far, I like it alot!

I'm assuming you are refering to the countdown timer in the duration field not the show time remaining.

Interesting I've never noticed that before, though it might be because I can't scroll and watch the timer at the same time.
Also discovered the timer will freeze while scrolling through the dropdown box for bookid's and opening the marksong box, these are all activities that I do AFTER checking to make sure I have sufficient time remaining. If I don't have time, I put it off until the next song start.

Timer countdown

Thanks for the reply. Yes, its the countdown timer that I am referring to. And I did notice the use of the features you mention also paused the timer. I don't recall the timer stopping anytime in Hoster 2.219 that I had prior to upgrading to 3.110. What is your feeling to the timer stopping?

Nothing has changed from past versions. This is a WINDOWS PROBLEM that we have ALWAYS had to live with.

There is nothing we can do to get around this. :f

There is nothing else to be said on this matter, so I am closing this thread.
