OK,...I have backed up my KMA files on disc. Now to make sure I have it right...what file do I need to back up to keep the same data base?

Lack of details makes it difficult to properly respond to your post.

Are you saying you've backed them up on to CDR's?
Are you using a laptop with external drive or a desktop?

Anyway the short answer is "songs.mdb" usually located at
C:\Program Files\Micro Technology Unlimited\Hoster\Databases\songs.mdb

you should back up all your .KMA's to an external hard drive. you dont need to back up your database. all is stored when you import the song. if your hard drive crashes, just install a new hard drive (re-install windows), re-install hoster, drag and drop all your .KMA's to the proper folder then rebuild your database.

now your back in business.

Sorry....I back the KMA's to CD-R's. I used easy CD creator. I dragged and dropped utill the project size was almost full.......took note of the stopping point and then continued on with another disc.......yep! one disc at a time. Time consuming.....but I think it is worth it. What do y'all think?

im not saying hard drives do, but its a lot easier and faster to drag and drop to a hard drive.

If you ever need to restore from your CDROMs, you will need to run Build Songs Database (Tools menu command).

It would make no sense to backup your Songs Database to CDROM. It is unlikely it would be useable if you restored all the CDROM files back. Just rebuild it.

You could also do this on DVD Rom's, as you could get about 5 cds worth on one DVD.

What about a Ghost Image of your HD. Wouldn't this take much less space and CD's?

Can I Ghost it to a Cd-R? Did not know you could do that.

I think you can if you use CD-RW and the disc is formatted to allow drag & drop type writing. Maybe someone who knows for sure how this is done will chime in.

I don't think that you can ghost it to a CDR and it work correctly, its gotta be a HD for it work correctly. As far as I know and have seem from Experience.
