Re: Song Book Tracks

You will have to manually type in the information for the Discs that are not in the database. This is explained in the Manual, which is located under Hoster, Help Menu\Read Manual.

The next update to this is unknown, there will not be any update to the version coming out this week.

You might be waiting on this for a while. All you had was 5 discs that weren't in there, that is nothing. I have had clients who added 1000 discs by hand, thats alot now.

We are trying to get to the point of it being updated from the web, using XML. Alot has to be done to do this, but this is what the future plan is.

I can't speak for most, but I am a little disappointed the new release didn't have any new database updates since December 2004. I have 30 new disc's I was holding off importing, in hopes that this 'major' release would have a database update. :?

I realize that you are working on 'Web Updates' and other functionality in Hoster to make it better, but what are your interim plans for updating the database. To say the 'next update is unknown' and 'You might be waiting on this for awhile' doesn't sound too promising. Do you usually update it yearly, every six months, or quarterly? Quarterly would be GREAT! :) :g

Please don't get me wrong, I'm not mad or dogging your software. I think it is the greatest thing to hit the Karaoke industry. I personally love it and have been spreading the word locally to other KJ's trying to get some 'converts' for you. :g

I am not sure to tell you the truth when the next update would be. Honestly in the past it had been about every 6-9 months. We are working towards getting it web enabled, but this has not yet started, and as far as I know there are no plans for an update until then.

Just giving you what I know.

Thanks for the quick response. I guess I will have to "get to typing" :g

I was just thinking about how some of the CD rippers work by using online CD databases (CDDB) such as www.freedb.org to obtain Song Titles and Artists.

Could this be an option as well?

KJ starts to import a disc, if the disc is not in the Hoster DB, the KJ has an option of searching the CDDB (which there are many) populate the artist/song fields. If it isn't in the online CDDB, then the KJ types in the info and it's get sent to the CDDB for future lookup by other KJ's. I do the same thing with the CD music I import into Windows Media Player. AudioGrabber utilizes the same process.

Just thinking out loud. :) :c
