Search function problem
I am hoping someone can help me. For some reason my search function in hoster has stopped working. I run two systems and i am not having this problem on the other. I have rebuilt the data base, I have also upgraded from 3.0 to 3.06 to see if this would solve the problem but it still doesn't work. Can anyone help me? Thanks :f

Re: Search function problem
Does it do anything when you try to use the search? I don't know of any way that this part could just stop working and everything else seems to work fine.
You might try reinstalling the software using Update. I don't think this will do anything, but it is possible. |
Re: Search function problem
is it possible that when you search, you are hitting the enter key instead of song...artist. If you are doing that, it will not search.

Re: Search function problem
Thanks for getting back to me. The things I have done to try to fix this problem are as follows. Oh first of all when I hit search it does nothing. I mean you can tell that you have hit a button but it doesn't bring up the search box at all. I just finished removing all traces of hoster and all files except of course the kma's. I did move the kma's to another folder and also deleted the microstudio folder from programs. I then downloaded a fresh install of 3.06 and rebuilt the data base. Still nothing. My next option is I guess I am going to go back and try 2.219 and see if that does anything. This is really strange to me considering that even mtu might be not know whats up with this. Everything else works perfectly.
If anyone else knows of anything I would appreciate it. Does the search function use any other computer function to help it work? Something on my computer that could be wrong and not letting it function properly? Ok thanks I'll let you know If I find anything out. |
Re: Search function problem
Ok I downgraded to 2.219 and still the same problem. Hmm....
It seems like the search box may be coming up somewhere, but wherever it is I can't see it. I click on the button and the button pushes. I feel like that box is hiding somewhere. |
Re: Search function problem
I don't know if it would, but you never know. Is it possible that it opens on the task bar?

Re: Search function problem
try restoring your computer to an earlier date.

Re: Search function problem
Ok I tried restoring to an earlier date and that didn't help. I updated my virus protection and did a scan for that. The only thing I have done that I can think of is intstall a microstudio demo. The only other thing I notice is that I have a file on my desktop that I have no clue where it came from and has files in it that I don't know what they are. They have the file extension .IRX
And there are some .ALL files I'm not sure what to think at this point. At least everything else works fine, but I can't believe how much I miss it! :) Thanks for the idea's. If you have anymore I'll take them! And I'll let you know if I fugure it out. |
Re: Search function problem
Single or Dual monitors? Is it possible that the search box is appearing on the secondary screen?
You mentioned you moved your kma files...are you sure the rebuild database found your songs. I'm guessing maybe that the database is empty and seeing no songs to search, it doesn't open that window? Thats all I can think of at the moment, perhaps it will help... Flip |
Re: Search function problem
There is a registery entry that controls where Hoster is displaying items. See this post:
http://forum.mtu.com/showpost.php?p=30626&postcount=7 See if it helps. |
Re: Search function problem
I believe the database was rebuilt ok because I can play everything, everything and all the songs are there. Just that **** search button. I am going to try the registry edit but I am pulling a double today and have a show on friday so I don't want to take the chance of having to do a format and restore before the show. I will however let you know as soon as I do it. Thanks everyone!

Re: Search function problem
Ok,
I think I know what you have done. The search button is opening the Dialog, but you have it moved to a location that it can't be seen. To fix this you must delete the Defaults for Hoster in the Registry. Lets go into the Registry and Delete a few keys to reset this. 1) Go to the Start Menu\Run. 2) Type in Regedit and hit Ok. 3) Go to the Very Top to start with. 4) Click the + beside HKEY_CURRENT_USER 5) Click the + beside Software 6) Click the + beside Micro Technology Unlimited 7) Click the + beside Hoster 8) Click Default, press the Delete key, when Default is a blue/purple color, showing it is selected. 10) Try Hoster again and see what happens. This should reset all of the settings to default. |
Re: Search function problem
AzKaraoke,
Have you tried deleting the Registry keys, as I posted above? This should fix your problem. |
Re: Search function problem
Yes Yes!!! It worked. Thanks a whole lot. How did I cause this to happen? Is it something one of my kj's might have done? Well whatever the case I am very happy! Thanks again mtu. :)

Re: Search function problem
Beavis,
It is in a Sticky... Hoster Program- Error Messages- How to fix known errors. The error was just not an Error Message. |
