How Do I Backup My Data

I have Windows XP on a Laptop without a floppy drive and when I try to do a system backup it fails because it can't find a floppy and it freezes when I ask it to search for my cd writer.

Kate,
All you needed to do was to Run UPDATE, as I stated in the other post. If you ran Remove, then you must connect this computer to the Internet, before you start the Installation. This is the only way that you will beable to install it again.

I haven't removed anything, all I want to do is put everything (including my songs) onto disc for just in case purposes without using 30+ disc's. I would like to do a hard drive back up if that is possible onto cd rather than a bootable floppy which i haven't got access to!

The best way to do what you want without using a ton of discs is to get another hard drive installed, or use a USB hard drive. Then get Norton GHOST.

You can clone an exact, working copy of your main hard drive. Much better than just executable back-up's. I have that on both my pc's and it works great. All my drives are internal. Seagate gives a 5 yr. warranty on their internal drives, but the standard 1 yr. on the USB's. That's why I went the internal route.

Sorry,
I was not clear as to the problem.
