Need Help Bigtime!!

I need someones help....I just purchased a CAVS JB 199. I did this because I have about 5,000 songs on disc that I would like to capture onto the 199. CAVs recommended a Plextor PX-716UF DVDR External Drive to capture my hundreds of disc. I purchased one and can't get it to capture onto the 199. Apparently all of my disc are copy protected (I'm guessing). When I go to capture a disc..it writes and encodes for hours on end, but never capturing (though it says it's making progress..up to 29,000% and counting, but it was endless). This is all new to me, but i've already invested well over $2,000 on this equipment (not to mention $3,000 more on all those disc). Any help would be appreciated. Thanks...Ron

Maybe you should try asking the people at CAVS instead here?

Since they recommended it.

P.S.
If they are SCD+G's, according to CAVS forums, you can't.

Re: Need Help Bigtime!!

We have three complete computer workstations for hosting Karaoke shows less than that, and they come with a Plextor 716 drive. Our software works. I answered your other post, but now I understand your problem more. You don't have any MTU software at all.

Our Microstudio software is $39.95, but it won't encode into the CAVS format. Our Hoster software is $178.95, but it won't compress in the CAVS format. We are expecting Hoster 3.2 to support importing CAVS format into our KMA file format and adding it in our Songs Database to play in your shows.

Let us know if we can help in any other way, but your questions need to be asked to CAVS. I hope you can get the support you need, given the thousands of dollars you paid them.

Wow....thousands of dollars vise $178.95 for Hoster................I have made decisions that over time, have come to regret. I hope this is not the case for you. Good Luck! :)

I would forget CAVS and go to Hoster. MTU is the best.

Thanks to those who posted friendly to my concerns rather than be a redneck smart-alec. I always heard that the only stupid question was the one that was never asked.:)

Did you perceive my answer as an insult, or was it someone else? I think we all answered fairly, and I had answered your other thread also.

So why did you respond back with such an insult?

I'd really like to know so we can improve our service for visitors.

Admin.....no, i didn't peceive your answer as an insult. That wasn't meant at all toward you. I probably shouldn't have asked the question on here at all. I just jumped the gun a little about my problem with CAVS. I have been in touch with CAVS since and we are working through the problems. But you have been kind in your responce, and that i sincerely appreciate.

It must have been mine.:s

If it was my reply that you thought was rude.....then I am sorry. It was not intended that way. I really have spent thousands of dollars on stuff I thought was great only to find out later that I was wrong. I did the same with another computer karaoke program....what a mistake that was!!!!!!

Mistakes....we have all been there.:g

Hope It All Works Out,

No need for an apology Chris. Thanks for your input.

Re: Need Help Bigtime!!

The sad news is that I have presented the problem to CAVS...as yet with no reply. It appears that all of my disk are of the dreaded Sound Choice variety. I'm having no luck capturing them to the JB 199. It's really frustrating. I was unaware of the Microstudio software when I purchased the CAVS machine. Oh well...as you say Chris...we all make mistakes..but some are excruciatingly expensive and painful:m

Has this gone past the point where you can contest the transaction with your credit card company? Wouldn't CAVS have some culpability by not asking you for more details once they knew your objective, and not informing you that you may not be able to import SC to their product?

Dunno, but it makes me wonder.

On another note, some have reported on the forums that if you scream loud enough SC will replace copy protected disc with non-protected ones for the cost of shipping. My understanding is they were forced to this because DVD compliant players won't play their stuff, not just pc's.

Once again...dunno, just what I've read on the forums.

George

Re: Need Help Bigtime!!

I just got an e-mail from CAVS tech support finally answering my e-mail. They asked me what version my jukebox was on the CAVS. They said the Plextor 716UF was only compatible with version 1.0.4.24.......my version says 1.0.4.14...maybe they can fix my problem...but i still intend to try the Microstudio software from mtu...why not...i'm really getting into this thing:g

Humor... in spite of things... is always heathy. :g

We expect to start Beta testing Microstudio 3.000 next week. It can read all the tracks on a Multisession CDG disc, which I believe your SC discs are. It will be a free upgrade to all who purchase with the last 30 days before release, expected by the end of April.

Ok i been reading through here and Admin mention that host might be able to import cavs disk. Does that mean the super CDG with 100's of songs will be available?

Re: Need Help Bigtime!!

Here's an update on my situation. I finally got an update into my CAVS 199 that allowed it to become compatible with the Plextor 716UF. I can now capture cd&gs (including the dreaded Sound Choice variety) and am obviously happy at the moment. I am still curious about the Hoster though. I still want to make disk copy backups of my cd&gs for protection purposes. As stated previously, i've got a huge investment in my stash!:)

Re: Need Help Bigtime!!

I feel MicroStudio can still help you. It is the only program I know of that can rip multisession CDs regardless of the CD drive version. You could:
Use MicroStudio to rip the CDs
Import the BIN files into your CAVS (if that is possible)
(if not) burn the BINs back out to a single session CDG
Then import that CDG into your CAVs

I know its more trouble but it is a way...

Good luck..

PS Even Microstudio has a problem ripping multisession CDs, but the problem can be overcome.
