I have used my laptop for 2 years with no problem. I have no spare but I use my former JVC CDG player for those that bring in there own discs. I work close to my home, so if I ever have a disaster, I'd run home and pick up my spare set of CDG discs and use that.

I think it would be nice to have a spare and one day might get one when I'm feeling rich.

I'm carrying a spare HD.

Most unreliable part --

Mine (364 days old) died Dec 31, 2004.

$150ish for spare (w/USB interface) -- just have to keep it updated.
But I figured that was a cheap insurance policy.

I carry a External HD for backup. If my other show that uses the MTU portable pc is not in use, I can go home and pick it up and be back within 20min.

I had my portable pc go down one night due to a power failure during boot up. Could not get it rebooted (had some corrupted files). Just lucky to have my laptop in the van so the show went off without a hitch. It does not hurt to have a spare if you can afford. :r
