Garbled words on laptop

I did a show last weekend where it seemed like everyone had there own disks. While someone was singing, I would import someones CDG and noticed the words on my laptop would garble up. My wife said that the singers screen was fine. I am going to duplacate at home soon. Has anyone seen this before?

Re: Garbled words on laptop

Nothing, execpt antivirus. I really can turn that off during shows. I use the laptop for shows only, and only get on the internet for updates. Maybe I should switch to my test desktop for updates? I will check everything when I have a chance. I have an HP NC6000 with 1GB of memory. It works great until I noticed this. If it is only on the laptop screen I can live with it. Usually, I only get 1 or 2 customers with there own music. I have over 3,000 songs mostly Sound Choice and Chart Buster. It was just a wierd day, probably because I did it free for a friend.

Could also be the CD drive on the laptop not picking up the graphics correctly. Had this problem with the laptop I had been using until I built my rackmount.

No, the songs all played fine after converting to KMA format. It was only while the conversion was taking place while someone was singing and it seemed to only be on the small laptop song display, not the singers display.
I will try to duplacate tonight.

I think what you are experiencing is normal believe it or not. When I do a search or a track import from a CDG and the window covers the small display on the laptop, the small display becomes scrambled. I think it has to do with graphics buffer for the small display not being updated during a search or track import.

I started getting very minor audio drops again when I installed Norton 2005 on the PC, even when disabled.

Maybe 2 or 3 songs per night, enough to make the video be 1 word ahead on the song.

I am using McAfee Enterprise 7.0. I really don't know why I have it enabled because the only time I go on the internet is for updates for Hoster and Microstudio. I will turn it off and try. My laptop has an ATI Mobility Radeon 9600 which works great. I think it happens when importing while playing. The import box is on top of the small lyrics screen on the laptop display. I think what I did was drag the import window, so I could see the lyrics, while everything was going on and the graphics on the laptop got out of sync for a few seconds. I will try it without antivirus and not touching anything. I am almost sure that the singers display is fine during all this.

I know, Beavis. Just went down that road, but it was pretty painless.

Heck, it's only time, right? :w
