Hoster 3.006
Hey Folks,
I loaded up 3.006 on Monday night, and when I got to the gig Tuesday, as if by magic, my dual display wasn't working again (it worked fine 5 minutes before upgrading). Yup, the same problem that has been happening to me every time I load up a new version of Hoster. Believe me, I know these video settings inside and out by now, and they are set EXACTLY the way they are supposed to be. Could the upgrading of Hoster have changed anything? I did a system restore back to when I reloaded everything on my PC a couple of weeks ago, and everything worked fine, and the gig went off without a hitch, going back to Hoster 3.000. The only thing that got put on the PC since I reloaded everything was the Hoster upgrade to 3.006. So, my logic tells me that the loading of the upgrade has something to do with the dual display not working. This happens everytime a load a new version of Hoster. Yes, I can see the boot up screens on my singers TV (so everything is hooked up right). When I start a song, the singers display shows up on my PC (small window), rather than being extended out to the TV, acting like there is no TV hooked up. Any ideas, again? Or, am I just cursed? |
Re: Hoster 3.006
When this happens to me I just drag the singers display to the Tv. Just click and drag it to the left it should enter your tv screen. Then resize it by the corner of the box. Sometimes this happens on an upgrade. I've done it a few times. It freaked me out the first time it happened to me at a show. I hope this helps. :r

Re: Hoster 3.006
when you say "wasnt working" .......you meant ???? the singers display wasnt on the singers tv ?
i forgot what video card you were using. |
Re: Hoster 3.006
Yeah, the singers display wasn't on the TV. It stayed on my PC screen.
The Video Card is ATI Radeon 9200. You know how when you run your PC without a secondary display hooked up, the singers display shows up on your PC screen in a resizable box that you can move around? Well, when I have the PC set up at home, I just move it to the upper right hand corner out of the way, and size it so it fits up in that area. When setting up, I hook up a secondary monitor (i.e., singers TV), turn on the TV, and then the PC. I then start Hoster. When I play a song, the small window on my PC (the singers display that I put up in the right hand corner), disappears off of the PC screen, and displays on the Singers TV. That's the way it's supposed to work. Well, last night, I started a song, and it stayed there, and never extended itself out to the Singers TV. The Singers TV was blank. Then, when I did the System Restore, back to a point prior to Hoster 3.006 (to Hoster 3.000), it worked fine, and displayed itself on the Singers TV. |
Re: Hoster 3.006
Party of One, I'll give that a try.
Thanks |
Re: Hoster 3.006
did you try double clicking the screen ?? that generally moves it to the singers TV.
|
Re: Hoster 3.006
That only expands it onto the PC screen.
|
Re: Hoster 3.006
it just sounds like your dual display is not turned on. are you sure you updated your video card from its own website and not windows update drivers ?
|
Re: Hoster 3.006
Make sure that the 2nd screen is part of the extended desktop [settings>control panel>display>settings>] click on the secondary monitor and make sure that the box for "extend my windows desktop to this monitor" is checked.
Then you can drag the singer's screen onto the 2nd monitor and double-click it to make it full size. (wanna freak out your pals? Put the singers screen on the monitor at half size then double click it.... it'll be full size.... THEN... when someone you know gets up to sing and you want to mess with them a little; double-click it again and it'll be half size.... the words will be almost too tiny to read. It's a hoot!) |
Re: Hoster 3.006
Beavis,
Everything is up to date. It works with Hoster 3.000, but not 3.006. Dual display is turned on. Use Hoster 3.000, it works. Use 3.006, it doesn't. That's the confusing part. As I said, when I double click, it only expands it on my PC screen, not on the singers display. |
Re: Hoster 3.006
Tymzend,
What you might want to do when this happens again, is Try turning the Dual Display off. Then Run Hoster Play a song, then close Hoster. Once you have done this, Turn the Dual Display back on, then double click on your Singer Screen to send it to the TV, and see if that will work. This would allow any registry settings that could be getting screwed up to be reset, when you don't have your 2nd monitor hooked up. |
Re: Hoster 3.006
Thanks Bryan.
I'll give that a try tonight. |
Re: Hoster 3.006
From my experience with this if the tv isn't connected and you double cli ck the singer screen it will become a full screen. However if the tv is connected when I double click it goes to the singer tv.

Re: Hoster 3.006
Mimilee, you are correct. My problem is, that even when the TV is hooked up, it goes full screen on the PC.
I'm going to do some experimenting this weekend. There's probably just something I'm missing. |
Re: Hoster 3.006
Try clicking and dragging it over to the tv while it's small, THEN size it and double click it to lock it in place. That's the way it works for me.

Re: Hoster 3.006
hey george,
when he double clicks the screen, it goes to full screen on the pc. this means it must be something wrong with his settings or the card itself. hey tymzend, are you using a converter from radio shack to go to the tv monitor ? or a straight RCA connection from your video card ????? |
Re: Hoster 3.006
Straight RCA Connection.
In the past, I never had to move the singers display over to the TV screen for it to work. Regardless of where it was on my PC display while Hoster was open, if I had the Singers TV hooked up, and I hit "PLAY" in Hoster, it vanished off of the PC screen, and magically appeared on the Singers TV, without having to be resized or anything. And, for the duration of the show, it would stay there. If you move the singers display off of your PC screen (to the left), so the whole thing shows up on the TV, how can your mouse reach it to double click it and resize it? After all, you just moved it off of your screen. Just wondering. |

Don't focus so much on having to move to the left, mine and many others move off to the right. I imagine that varies with different video cards Thre way I descrtibed it in my prior post is the way ity works for me, and many others have used the same method. You don't even have to be in Hoster, just set it up the remote and move the mouse over there, you can see it on your extended desktop. George |
