Cannot change screen resolution

I have my primary screen set at 1400 x 1050 and 16 bit. I noticed my secondary screen which is the TV was set at 1024 x768 and 32 bit.

I changed it to be the same as the primary.

The color changed to 16 bit, but the resolution on the secondary screen remains at 1024 x768.

Is this normal?

I noticed that a desktop picture on the TV is stretched out of shape, so I thought by setting the resolution the same as the laptop, it would show the same picture layout.

Can someone explain all this to me? Is my set up normal, or am I doing something wrong?

I do know that 1024 x 768 is what Hoster is supposed to work the best at, but I like the 1400 x 1050 resolution better for the laptop and it works fine that way. Things are not so big.

Re: Cannot change screen resolution

a tv can not support high resolution like a crt or lcd
you will be lucky to get 800x600 out of most tvs
hope this helps you

I see. Since my lowest setting is 1024 x 768, that is where it should stay. How about the 32 bit compared to the 16 bit color. I have both set at 16 thinking it will save memory. Is this OK?

Re: Cannot change screen resolution

16 or 32 are OK. They are 2 and 4 bytes long.

DO NOT USE 24 bit color. It is 3 bytes long and will significantly slow down your computer. I don't understand why this is even available. :m
