Lyrics Speeding Up

Last night I was singing karaoke, and the kj was using Hoster equipment and software. He imported my song from my CD.

When I sang, it seemed to me that the lyrics, or the song itself was speeded up, as I could not keep up. I have sung that song many times before from my CD and from my laptop with Hoster, and had no problem.

My question is: Is it possible for the song to speed up like that, or was it my imagination?

No, the previous version. All the other songs I sang from my CDGs were OK.

I have occaisionally seen this in the new version of Hoster. I don't have an explanation either. I haven't had it happen at a show, but while at home practicing. In ever occurance I was able to restart the song and the problem goes away. I don't know if anyone else has experienced this or has thoughts on why this happens occaisionally. (once every few hundred songs, vary rare).

Re: Lyrics Speeding Up

I have had it happen at least once on both my computers, one a Shuttle XPC, the other a Sony Vaio. In both cases I was able to restart the song and the problem vanished. Both occurances were on the latest 3.0 version of hoster.

S.Parks,
Which Shuttle XPC Model do you have? Just so that I know, also what processor and Chipset is in your Laptop? We at one time had some issues with the NVIDIA Chip not correctly working with the Windows Power Management, which there was a sticky to fix this under the Hoster Help Forum.

Re: Lyrics Speeding Up

It's the SN41G2 with the NVidia chipset and AMD 2200 processor, the same one I had when we were sweating through the las excelleration problem. This one is very transient in nature though. I've only had it happen only a couple of times, once on a song I was singing, and once on a client. By the 3rd or 4th screen the lyrics were about a second ahead. I stopped the song and restarted and everything played fine. My other computer that I have experienced this on is a Pentium 4 laptop, with ATI 7500 graphics. It has happened once on there and not on the same songs. The shuttle has 512 ram and the laptop has 1 gig.

This is good to know, but I am not 100% sure what could cuase this. Have you gotten the latest drivers from NVIDIA and ATI For the video cards? If not then you might try this and see if it doesn't return.

MTU Support:

You asked what computer the host was using. It is the computer you sell that is not a laptop. He bought the entire package from you about 6 months ago. His first name is Jack and he lives in Bonita Springs or Naples, Florida. I don't think he knows he has a problem. Probably never happened before.
