how do i work extended desktop
 

Hi ,can anyone explain how i get my extended desktop working right? I have a radeon card and i have set it to dual display and extended desktop ,but all i get on my telly is a black & white messed up looking screen. I play a song and nothing happens on the tv. I will say i am pluged in via the s-video out on the card to scart in on the tv.

you may have the screen setting set to high for the tv
set it lower and see what happins then

Ok great i got it on the tv monitor but its still in black and white ,any idea's on why?

what is your exact video card ??

is it built by ATI or Powered by ATI ???

My card is a radeon 9700 pro.

The only times that I have seen this happen, it has been a bad cable. Try replacing your Cable and see what happens. The cable going to the TV.

The cable is brand new . The tele is on av setting ,is this correct? Oh and i use my laptop for shows but it only has a s3g prosavage ddr card in it and i cannot find extended desktop on it. Does this card have extended desktop?

Are you jumping from desktop to laptop? Let's get the one with the Radeon card working first, and not confuse the issue any more than it is.

From what you've described, it's more than not having extended desktop configured properly, but you'll need to do it eventually, so to set up extended desktop:

Have the tv and pc connected and the tv turned on. Reboot the pc.

1-Right click anywhere on a blank spot on your pc desktop.

2-Click PROPERTIES.

3-Click SETTINGS. There should be two monitors showing.

4-Click on monitor #2

5-Check box that says EXTEND MY WINDOWS DESKTOP TO THIS MONITOR.

6- Click OK.

You should see your desktop on the tv minus any shortcuts or toolbars.

Yes thats what i have done apart from the restarting the pc bit. Ok do you have any idea's on the laptop card. The laptop is the one i really need it working on as that is what i run my show from.

I don't have the foggiest about that card. You should be able to get the specs from the manufacturer's website.
Maybe support is familiar with it.

I have a 9200se card and had trouble with this same thing you need update

from ati cavs it called after you install dual screen works great
