Laptop Help
 
Hello Everyone newbie here. I've been wanting to upgrade my show using a laptop with the Hoster program for sometime now and I finally have the chance to do it but I have a few questions before I do that. I have a family member that GAVE me a fairly new laptop its the Compaq EVO N600c. I need to know if this laptop will support the Hoster program. Here are the specs:

Thats it in a nutshell. I just need to know if my computer will support Hoster and if I need to upgrade my video or audio cards.

Welcome KJDave!

The best and easiest way to find out is to download our demo and run it on your laptop.

I don't expect your DVD drive to be able to import CDG discs.
Solution: Buy an MTU certified DVD USB drive and plug it into one of your laptop USB ports.

I'm not sure if your ATI card is dual display. With only 16MB RAM, it probably isn't.
Solution: If you want to run dual-display, this laptop won't do it, and I'm not aware of any external display means to get a dual display. Buy an MTU dual-display laptop to solve this problem. However, you can run in single display mode. It just won't be as pretty and efficient... but it WILL WORK! :w

buy a plug n play MTU laptop!

you will end any problems you will have using your laptop ! :)

KJDave,

I second what BEAVIS has said. I own two MTU laptops and both run like a Cadillac. My dad had a saying that's a little outdated now but it still applies, "It only costs a nickel more to go first class." Start with the best and you'll never regret it.

Yeah I had a feeling that this ATI card may not do the trick. Do you think its possible to get a video card upgrade from the manufacture or bust buy or circuit city? I do plan to buy the MTU certified DVD USB drive and plug it into one of my laptop USB ports, but my main concern is the video card in my laptop.

I hear ya Beavis, unfortuneately the funds are NOT there for the MTU laptop. I've been reading lots of post all night long and I am very impressed with all the positive chat about this system.

TO my humble knowledge, a Laptop's video system is built on the motherboard. So... I seriously doubt you can replace anything there. :e :s

you dont have to buy a MTU laptop, you can buy a different laptop with the MTU spec's. may save a little money there !

a desktop with a flat screen monitor is cheap !

I have the same diaplay on my laptop and it works cine BTW its also a Compaq.

To find out if it will work dual diaplay use an s-video cable, and hook it up to a tv put the tv on that video input, then power up the computer.

set the properties on the diaplay for the second display, and select extended desktop.

Don't expect to have a sharp picture on the tv, it only has to display graphics, and will look fine. If you do get the dual display, you will have the desktop icons on one display, and only a blank desktop on the second (tv) display. This indicates that the display is working and all is fine. :g

Our Portable PC is an excellent choice for only US$1469 (without Display, but with a DVDR/CDRW Burner). It is modular, has plug in cards for some functions, includes larger drives, and the DVDR is built in.

We are updating this model as we no longer sell the 52X or Premium Plextor drives. We now only sell the Plextor DVDR drive... Internal or USB External.

HOLLY COW! GDUNS!!!!!

It works I did what you said and went into my laptop properties and clicked on the 2nd display computer screen. Initially I had to update my ATI drivers from the ATI website cause I was only showing one display in the properties but now I am hooked up BTW the screen is so clear on my TV its like I have a second computer monitor I can even watch DVD's

nNow I can buy the Hoster/Microstudios program and the burner for this Compaq laptop

OK I have made a decision here, I am going to try and sell my laptop (see specs. above) and go ahead and buy the MTU laptop. I made this choice because I want the guarntee that the program will work with this system and you've all in these forums have given good praise to this laptop. So anyone out there intersted in buying my laptop?
