bring back edit ability to singer in play list

In earlier version of hoster I was able to edit singer info in the playlist.

I found this feature quite useful at times.

I use it this way currently.

I do not own every version of every song in the karaoke world and I don't think most kj's do either, so a lot singers bring in their own and I do not have a problem playing them, I do not import, I play them on a seperate player, mainly because I have run in to problems before, dirty discs cracked discs and so forth, and I don't want the risk to my cdrw So I still enter their name and the track # in to the play list and leave the bookid empty when I make the entry the name of the singer and track# only is displayed in the playlist.
What I used to do before is keep the name and just change the track# so I could keep track of their place in the rotation much easier.
Now the singer can not be edited, can this feature be brought back, and does anyone else miss this feature.

I too missed that feature when it was removed not too long ago. I complained about it at that time. My understanding is that it had something to do with codeing standards that were not being properly implemented and/or that a "Proper" fix would be far too complex. (Or words to that effect). MTU? Anyway, I "Can" live with it as it is but I too would like to see the edit function returned somehow. (Seems that it would cost us somethig else in the process too).

Sevekj,
Why don't you just click on CDG button under the Play Tab, Select the Track and then allow it to Play the Song off of the CD+G they brought?

Then you would add them into the Rotation, it will play the song from within Hoster and then it will delete the file when it is done. This way the file is not saved on your computer.

I used to do that, problem with various customer cd's cracks, smudges, and plain incompatability, bad copies and so forth, made me change that, because I use my show drive for importing and I don't want to risk a good drive. So I play them on my cdg player, it seems to take more punishment plus it has saved me the multiple times my computer crashes. And if I remember right it seemed to lock up or crash more often when I tried using the cdg feature.

The problem is if you select the track by clicking into the Singers field, it sets that field to edit mode also. Yep, most folks tended to select that field to select the track. Then, if you delete the track from the Playlist, the contents of the Singers field (now buffered because it is in edit mode), replaces the Singers field entry for the track that ends up being selected after the prior one is deleted.

The number of customer complaints we received, far outweighed the complements of our having the edit field... then and still cumulative today. We have tried and can find no way to prevent the edit mode from buffering the field contents, or any way to clear that buffer when a delete is done.

We will try to "think outside the box" and see if there isn't some way to allow editing the Singers field without damaging during deleting. :w

Admin,
I was going to download the 2215#2 but when I went to download it states that it is 2213#3. Has 2215#2 not been posted yet?

Bjswaim,
The file was removed, due to some buttons being in Hoster that shouldn't be there until 2.216. So we removed the file, and it should be ready for you to download it later on today.

Editing Singers names in the Playlist is back!!! :g I committed we'd look at it, and we did. It is fixed and in version 2.216... target release is Septmeber end. :g

Oh yes, 2.216 will also allow:

* Playing .wav and .wma songs from the hard drive (MP3+G and MP3 play is coming, .cdg play is also coming)

* Pause-Resume play at any point in the song

* Play multiplexed songs with the vocals muted

* Songbook upgrade allows you to print "addendum" pages of new release songs to add to your book instead of reprinting the whole book. We are working on an expanded songbook that includes removing duplicate songs, and print special pages such as for Duets, Spanish (German, French, etc.) language lyrics songs... Genre... basically any selection of our KMA stored parameters.

* Make the background transparent to allow mixing with motion or still video backgrounds outside Hoster (may not be in 2.216)

* Major speed-up importing CDG songs to KMA (Singer's discs they bring AND importing your discs) to allow playing .cdg songs already on your hdrive from Microstudio. Code's not done yet so we don't know the performance, so we can't quote any figures yet. :s

* Displaying the next Singer(s) on-deck between songs (selectable how many ahead to show, and duration to delay). Of course, those who try to maximize how many Singers per hour get to sing will never use this delay tactic to slow down their shows... but we are adding it. MANY of our users have discouraged us from wasting our time on this, but others "believe" they want it. :r
