what is bucket.mdb password

I had an idea to do my song info editing, but I need access to the bucket to make importing song info easier. When I try to access the bucket it asks for a password. Why is this restricted anyway?
What is the password.

Iwould have liked to have done some editing in the Bucket.MDB fle myself but, it mentions in the manual that this file contains propriatory information and that accesing this fle outside of hoster itself is prohibited. I'd have to look at the license agreement but, I think it is also mentoned there as well.

As for why? I can only figure that the contents of that file repersents alot of hard work, time and money on the part of the programmers and staff of MTU. They woud not want anybody, (specifically the competition), plagerizing there work.

I'd still like to be able to do it but, I do understand why not.

You guys are correct as to why this has been done. We have had some companies rip our database off in the past. This is why this new version is protected. We placed alot of money and effort into cleaning up this database, and this is why it is now protected.

I guess that is ok, but for what hoster costs versus just "ripping off" kjpro special liscencing and all of that other proprietary jazz, I think a legitimate hoster user should be allowed a special copy to fix bucket so importing their own library with their own format method so when importing typing and cut and pasting one at a time can be illiminated. I can see safeguarding something that is 99% accurate compared to anything else, sorry to slam you, but I had to do a lot of editing when I imported my discs and I was going to try to send in corrections when I ran in to them, but holy moses it took me nearly six months just to import I did not want to spend a year to import and report, I know I am being rough I am sorry, but I don't think the bucket needs or deserves the protection it is getting, sorry.

Yes, first it does represent tens of thousands of dollars.

Second, the VERY FEW number of users who even know what the word DATABASE means, much less have an inkling of an idea how to SAFELY edit one, is in the MINORITY. Thus, it is also a way of preventing NON-KNOWLEDGEABLE users from getting themselves in trouble and DEMANDING MTU BAIL THEM OUT! :f

After 35 years of professional product development, believe me, I've seen many times what I just wrote. There is a fine line in product development. Ease of use is at ODDS with flexibility. The more flexible a product is, the harder it is to use, and the more folks can get into trouble and need help.

When Hoster was $450 we had sufficient income to support users who DID edit the database. At $178.95, the profit is just not there. Thus, the limitations on the flexibility have been added to protect MTU.

We are working on a means to allow users to share in the expense of updating the database. :w

Re: what is bucket.mdb password

How about substituting the bucket with a user's own?

Or importing from a separate database source?(like a songbook program)

any progress on "mapping" these to Hoster?

Thanks you guys at MTU

Currently looking into other hoster program again ( revisiting )

They just got better.

I will probably always come back to mtu, because of the investment.

I am letting pride go, and am going to check out the competition.

Thanks for everything,

Sincerely,

Seve

Gentlemen, ye know not what ye ask for! :e

The Bucket.mdb database is NOT a Flatfile Database as I am sure you are believing it is. It is a Hierarchical Database with separate tables for Songname, Artistname, Manufacturername, and the Main table which links everything together as numeric ID links plus the DiscID and BookID. For you to "replace it with your own" would literally take you weeks to do... except you'd never finish unless you are a database expert! :e

We are considering a way to import your Songbook Excell spreadsheet an "link" records up to the Songs Database fields. Songs DB is a flat-file database that you could understand. Then, you could update the linked to KMA files to replace the Song and Singer names with your fields.
