tiny glitch in Hoster 2.213

First of all - I absolutely love this new version. MTU - you are definitely on the right track! (now just give us the ability to load VCD and DVD files into Hoster and we'll be set!) :-)

One small glitch I've encountered with this version... If I do a Search while a song is playing, when I return to the main screen from the Search window, the singer's window that's shown on the host's display (luckily not on the singer's display!) is all garbled. After a few lines overwriting it, it goes back to normal. As I said, this doesn't impact what the singer sees, but it's very unnerving to us "hosters" to see the display like that and panic that that's what the singer is also seeing. Minor glitch, but something to be aware of. Thanks!

I push my laptop to the limits with Hoster when I test some of the problems I read on the forum. This time while on the internet and with an animated image on my desktop for a commercial ad, I ran your problem and had not experienced the garbling effect that you had in neither window.
Usually when I get song that does that, It is mostly a bad recording as KMA. I do it over again and it reads fine.

Songpony,
I am also unable to reproduce this problem.

What speed is your computer? What kind of video card do you have in it? Have you done all of the Windows Updates?

I would try updating all your drivers and such for this system and see if that will help.

update the video drivers from the video cards website.....not windows update !

admin,
this has always been there if another window covers the preview window, when killing the window that had it covered it will be messed up for a little while. I have had the problem. I move the dialog bow over so when it pops back up, it doesnt cover the preview window.

I suppose you mean the text gets messed up in the small hosts singers working window.
No garbling happens there, the text is OK too, but that little window keeps getting smaller all the time.
Not the singers full svreen one, that's OK.

Check the thread titled "The Incredable Shrinking Singers Display".
Sounds like the same problem. Seems that video cards do not always install properly and, sometimes, we arn't even aware of it.

Try this: Boot your machine with both monitors active and in "extended desktop mode".(The way you would normally run it durrig a show.
Move your mouse pointer to an empty area on your desktop.
Right click to bring up a menu and select "Properties". This will bring up the "Display Properties" screen.

Now, how many monitors do you see in the graphic picture?

If you see 2 monitors, then your good to go! :)

If you see only 1, then your multi-display video card DID NOT install properly. :f

Solved! Here is the solution:
When hooked up to a monitor or a TV, dual screen mode comes into play. That is when the little window in the working screen is one display and the TV is the other. The overlay screen is not there. It is now on the monitor or TV screen.Which is why you cannot change its size.
When a second monitor or TV are not present, now you are on a single display mode. That is where you will see the little Host working screen. It will never disappear, but its size still reduces with use, in my case

What happened is, I made that little window very small so I could read the screen under it rather than keep resizing it. Well I suppose it got smaller and finally disapeared. That is what I thought

If you are working dual screen, and want to return to normal single screen without changing your display mode, you must shut down the computer, unplug the second screen source so it is not recognized. Open Hoster again the small screen loads in its last state.
Can I be right on my findings? If so, is this something that MTU can do a fix on?

Jdavia,
The bug for the Shrinking Display will be fixed in the next version. You can turn off the Extended Desktop for your second monitor at any time while the computer is running to turn off the Dual Display. Do as you stated above to get to the Display Settings. Left click once on the 2 Monitor, uncheck Extend my Windows Desktop onto this monitor click Apply. Then Reopen Hoster and it would then be in Single Display Mode.

I am delighted to hear that the shrinking display has been recognized as a bug and that it will be fixed so soon. Much thanks. But, I am probably going to replace my video card anyway. (Just cant stand to have something that is defective).
FYI - Sense I don't have a second monitor showing in the display properties screen, I have no option to "Extend my Windows Desktop...". It just aint there to click on. :(

Which card to you recomend the most now. I'm using a desktop model now, but I'll probably change to a rack-mount when, (If), I get some money ahead.

I'm glad that you recognized that you have a BUG with your Video Card and that you are going to replace it with one that works.

For Desktop models we use the ATI Radeon 9200 Model. Don't purchase any of these cards that are the SE model or one that are not built by ATI.

Then it should work without any problems.

Re: tiny glitch in Hoster 2.213

I haven't had any problems with the shrinking display, and I also figured out that the garbled text only occurred because my search window went over the top of it. I moved that window so it no longer covers that display, and everything works fine now.

Thanks! That's the one that I will put on my wish-list. :)
