Scott,
None of the drives that come in Laptops will work for Karaoke. It might tell you Yes, but it will not work. if you read in the following post the list of drives that will show Yes incorrectly for Karaoke. http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?threadid=1106

Re: reading cd-g

You could install your backup copy of Hoster on your desktop and import there, then send the files to your laptop. You will have to run the Tools menu Build Songs Database command (BSD) to add them to your Songs Database. Be sure you copy/transfer the KMAs to the same directories you are now using for BSD. If not, you will need to add their new directory to the list box so BSD will find them. :w

Bryan,

Just a correction please: None of the drives that come in Laptops presently works with Microstudio or Hoster using the actual interface:w

Some of the drives showing Yes are in fact capable of reading cdg, it's the case of the Plextor 504 (Ricoh MP 5240A) & some LG models. My Dell Inspiron 4100 has a DVD-R from LG and is capable of a direct cdg reading. :g

Mlepine,
When I am stating that the drives will not work for CD+G, this means that I am always talking about our software.

Other drives will work no problem with the RAW DAO 96 format, but the drives will not actually correctly support and work with the CD+G.
