Laptop Help

I know there are a lot of threads about laptops, but I am having a little trouble trying to understand the video part. CDW has an HP nx9010 on sale for $1049, and with a little memory upgrade, it looks good. The only problem I have is the video. It has an ATI Radeon Mobility but it doesn't say 9600 Pro. It has an S-video out and a SVGA out. Will this work with Hoster? I am still wondering about the legal issue of coping Sound Choice to Hoster. I own all of my CD+G's, so I don't feel like I am stealing.

Any help would be great,

Mark

Call CDW and see if they can tell you any more about the ATI Radion Mobility in their Laptop. I don't know that it has to be a 9600 model card, and I'm sure they don't have a plug-in card, but rather have it built-on the motherboard. We offer an RF converter for the S-video output to convert to a TV signal if you need that. Please note that I AM NOT recommending this Laptop system. We offer only what we have found to be the best for use. I believe that Dell offers several models that some users have run Hoster on. I would feel better about your going with DELL than CDW.

As to your fears on the legality of importing/copying your SC discs to the hard drive, read the legal findings that addresses exactly this issue. Both Weslaw and Nexus/Lexus law databases were searched, and the article includes the case references if you want to dig deeper. :w

I use a Dell Inspiron 600M, 1.5 GHz, 512MB ram with an ati radion mobility 9200 and Hoster works incredibly. I also don't get the PHM drop-outs at all.

Re: Laptop Help

O.K. it looks like the Dell 600M and the HP nx9010 work. Why the drop offs with the HP? Do they both work in dual screen mode?

Re: Laptop Help

I have to update my last post about not experiencing the audio drop-outs with PHM disks. I just purchased some new PHM disks and loaded them last night and I experience the audio drop-outs with these. I didn't have the problem with the older PHM disks. Guess they have a new code for their beginning graphics. Will wait for this to be fixed before importing any more of them. Sorry if I confused this issue with any of you.

The more I look at that HP nx9010, the more I like it. P4 2.8mhz, 2 USB 2.0, ATI Radion Mobility, S-video, FireWire,
for $1049 NEW!! Please tell me why not.
