A request to the coders.....

Hello,

Would the coders of this great program please set the topmost to false for the "Reading CDG Disk... / Writing KRA..." window? It's tuff to write code with that little bugger constantly popping up above my code window. :w Gotta do something while I'm importing all these disks.

Thanks,

Roger

Re: A request to the coders.....

I would suggest against doing other things with the computer while importing files. WHen you are importing you are reading from the CDR drive. While you are writing code, you are doing the same thing. you MAY cause a problem with the graphics. you also should not be using the Internet while importing disks.

The only reason I am posting this reply, is because I hate to see hoster get a bum rap for importing problems, and I have seen this myself

Well ya might have a point there gduns. I'll have to see if this is an issue or not. I'm using VS.Net 2003 and I just have a hard time believing that these machines where running today can't keep their threads straight. But if I do see a digression in quality I'll stop and shut down everything that is not needed and just import.

Best,

Roger

Sorry... no.

You are the first to request this modification, while the operation has been accepted for 2 years. I can appreciate your desire, but as gduns points out, it is not safe to be reading the CDR drive, doing WMA compression, creating the .kma format file and saving to the Access database and the HDD... and then doing software development at the same time. :e

We tweaked the Thread Priorities 'til AFTER the cows came home! :e :t

Microsoft's Threads are not logicial, not fully under our control, and not always created by our code. We really don't want to mess with them any more.

We are preparing to convert to VS.NET later this year. Maybe there will be some "Miracle Tools" there to help us. :g :r

Good luck,

Don't expect any "Miracle Tools" with VS.NET other than the addition of OOP. At least that's my understanging.

Jon

That progress box that is getting in the way of multitasking is nothing more than a window, and like any other window, all you have to do is click on the blue area at the top and drag it out of the way...clear off the screen(to the right) if you so desire. Doing this does not hamper the imports in any manner.
Just tried it to make sure, and the imports are fine.

Well... next release

Hoster 2.214 will have the Reading CDG Disk... / Writing KMA File progress dialog boxes set to "topmost false".

KickinKaraoke was the first to say this. Consider it done! :w

Rutt Row Shaggie, sounds like I'm going against the wall for execution! :e

Thanks Admin.
