Maybe someone knows why

I recently purchased Plextor 708A drive from MTU. It's IDE internal mount but I hooked it up via USB. I copied about four discs and everything seemed fine. Now I go back a couple of days later and it won't work. I get message... Error: 'Start DAO Recording' command failed on device 3:0:0 Disc type is not supported. Same discs I have been using for 6 months. I tried about 5 of them. Same error. Then I tried a different brand that's 52x Verbatim CD-R. Same error. Then I tried Music CD-R. Same error.

I don't know what could have happened. Any advice anyone? MTUSUPPORT?

I am running Microstudio v2.508. Windows XP Pro.

Thanks,
Wally

The Answer is located at: http://forum.mtu.com/showthread.php?p=23759#post23759

Here is what the problem is:

5) Error: 'TEST UNIT READY' command failed on device 1:1:0. Device contains no disc or is not ready. (04h 00h 02h 02h 3Ah 00h or Error: 'Start DAO Recording' command failed on device 3:0:0 Disc type is not supported.

NOTE: This only occurs with the Plextor PX-W708 or PX-W712 DVD Recorder Models.

Solution: Remove Roxio EZ CD Creator 6 and Nero 6. These software programs cause the error.

Thanks MTUSUPPORT

I had wondered if their was some kind of a problem like this. Actually, I hooked up the 708A via a USB case temporarily on this machine. I now have a USB Plextor 52x. This is the burner that is intended for this machine. I intend to install the 708A in another machine that doesn't have any Roxio or Nero software on it.

Thanks again, I'll take care of it.
