Tiggallen,

You may have a very long wait!

Audio dropouts are not a problem exclusive to Hoster. A Google search about audio dropouts, audio drop and audio drops will produce close to 10,000 hits and at first glance I couldn't find one related to Hoster. :)

Sound cards architecture and computer systems come in many shapes and flavors. There's something called "sound buffers" among other things that control how sounds are reproduced. :w

I can assure you MTU is working overtime not only in trying to solve the sound dropouts mystery but to deliver to its clients a software product as close as perfect as humanly possible. :w :) :c

It'll happen.

Regards,

Jon

What Hoster version are you running? :?

2.212 had very significant improvements made that have reduced or removed audio dropouts for most if not all users.

I have also tried this on 2 different computers and I get the Audio/Static Sound. I have also gone back and Installed Hoster 2.014, which some were claiming worked correctly and it also has the Exact Same Noise, so this has been a problem through all versions of Hoster. This is not a new Problem, I am not sure why it is just now starting to Show up.

I have also found that if you play the same song, over and over it will make the static get louder. What is sounds like is the audio buffers are being distorted somehow by the graphics.

When you play a file in Hoster it decompresses the Audio portion of the .kma file. It then stores that as a out.dat file. This file is located at C:\Documents and Settings\(This will be your Logged on User Name)Administrator\Local Settings\Temp\out.dat.

If you change the out.dat file to out.wma then you can play the Audio portion under Windows Media Player. You will then see that the Audio is clean and the problem indeed does lie within the Graphics playback of Hoster.

The problem is not with the computers, but is indeed with the Hoster Software.

I believe this is what tiggallen was referring to. I am running V 2.212, and have the same issues, which were noted in the other thread. PHM discs are currently unusable, evidently due to the issue stated above, on my PC.

I asked the same question last week and have received a response yet, so my guess is that they are still working on the problem. Hopre it will be soon have not been able to use Hoster for over a week now.

2.212 did not solve the problems for me PHM and other disc with the same problem causing fade effect in the graphics still produce the dreaded drop out. :c

What he said.............. :w

I can't get the graphic issue to go away, causing the drop in audio when graphics fade on the PHM stuff.

The mention was that it was indeed a problem with the software, and was just wondering if any progress is being made, like a few others in this thread.

Timing

Gentlemen, Stellar is using graphic encoding techniques that hear-to-fore have not been seen. They are causing EXTREME DEMANDS on Hoster's graphic rendering code. This is the most complex code in Hoster to work on. In the past, we had similar types of problems with some other discs and all Madonna songs, and we solved them. :w

A number of projects at MTU are coming to an end soon, and we expect to have time to test the PHM discs next week. Once we can re-create the problem, we can work on it. However, our programmer who knows this code is not available until late August. I will be surprised if we can have a fix to you before September. :s

We don't like bugs in Hoster any more than you do. We have heard you, and the process is underway.

Thank you very much for the response, it is nice to have some sort of time frame for a resolution and that you are working on the problem.
Thanks again, BIG DADDY

That's all I wanted to hear.

Thanks for the update.

Re: when will audio drop outs be fixed

Have no idea of the magnitude of this Stellar problem, but if it centered mainly around a few popular tracks, I'd be very tempted to do a workaround as a temporary measure.

Import the audio portion of the track to the hard drive as a .wav, then download the lyrics and create new cdg's in KHP, thus bypassing the Stellar graphics encoding problem. It wouldn't be a great chore to try one and see if it would work.

Some hassle for sure, but less than the hassle and embarrassment at a show.

At risk of being redundant, it would all depend on how many of the most asked for tracks were involved, as to whether this would be worth the time or not.

George.

Re: when will audio drop outs be fixed

Easier to go back and use the discs for PHM for now, at least for me.

Our PHM stuff is about 25% of the stuff that gets played at each show.

Just bought THM this month, will see how that goes on the PC.
