Mtu expects members to solve problems

I have tried for days to get MTU support to solve my problem with their software. They do not return phone calls, emails, or answer you on the forums. It has been my experience that after spending your hard earned money on their products that let the other members try to solve your problems.

This is not fair to the members-unless you are going to pay us.

Nor is this anyway to do business.

Do not waste your money on their products because they do not provide adequate support.

Chris this is not thru, you got some help by ADMIN & MTUSUPPORT so how can you say that?

I can understand the frustation of not been able to use the software properly but please don't blame MTU!
Last comment from ADMIN was that the drive could be going bad, what did you do about it? Did you buy from MTU or can you bring it back to exchange?

chrisbrowning April 5th, 2004 10:28 PM

that's just it I got SOME help. But not enough help. If You had spent $600 and it wouldn't work you'd be screaming too. Put yourself in my shoes. If they would trouble shoot like they should they would take my calls. This is ridiculous.

I bought it from MTU. I contacted plextor. Appears problem is MTU since it does not work in their software.

I will correct you-it is mtu fault because they are not correcting problem./ Go figure,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,

I am placing this quote for all to read. This was my response from plextor.

If the drive is passing the self test and is working with both the provided software and with other programs then it should be fairly obvious, as you've pointed out, that the problem is with the interaction of the Microstudio software. We can't force them to help you and we don't have the information that would be required to troubleshoot their software for you.

Chris,
I just Installed a Plextor 708A drive in a USB case on my laptop to test with. What I found was the drives come to us as Firmware version 1.04. I tested with this, with Microstudio 2.517. The software burned a disc without any problems. I then updated the Firmware to version 1.06, rebooted the system, and then tested again. The results of this test were also the same, it worked perfectly.

I also did this with Nero 6.03 installed on my computer, which would not work prior to this version of Nero.

There has to be some other software on your computer that is causing a problem. Can you please tell me what software you have installed on your system.

You can find this out by going to the Start Menu\Settings\Control Panel. Click on Add/Remove Programs. Please list the software that you have installed on the system in this post. I will then try to install the software that you have and see what happens.

Chris,

If I were you I would go to Start, Run, Type msconfig, start up and remove the check in front of everything except your antivirus or any rundll file.
If you have Roland Sound Canvas don't remove the check!

This way you'll have a clean system when you boot.

Good Luck

Denver,
I can understand your concern and I'll try to re-assure you & Chris if necessary.

Here's what I got from the MaximumPC magazine February 2004, Page 28:

Every frickin' application we install lately seems to dump some sort of craptacular applet into our System tray... To kill the apps, you need to root them out at their source... To start it, go to Start, Run, and then type msconfig.exe. When the app opens, go to the Startup tab. The vast majority of your evil Systray apps can be disabled from here.

The difficulty lies in figuring out which apps you need, and which you don't... We recommend leaving alone any apps that uses rundll32 to run; if you mess with those you can disrupt vital Windows processes.

To disable the startup apps, all you need to do is uncheck the box next to each app's name and reboot your PC.
It's that simple.

All I did was to recommend not to disable Sound Canvas and the antivirus.

After doing this you have a clean startup!

Regards

I really appreciate you guys all trying to help me! THANKS

The bad news is I went into startup under msconfig. And disabled everything under startup-- and it did not help. I still cannot burn a cd under custom assembly.

Mtu support,

I need to add my platform is windows xp professional sp 1

MTUSUPPORT April 8th, 2004 03:41 PM

Chris,
Is this only under Custom Assembly that you are having the problem?

I tried the Duplicate disc, I thought this is where you were having the problem. I will test this again and post back.

chrisbrowning April 8th, 2004 04:27 PM

I am mainly concerned with custom assembly. I have tried so many things and haven't tried duplicate disc since then.

I will try duplicate disc again and still see if I get error code

MTUSUPPORT April 8th, 2004 05:22 PM
