Help...Help....Help!
I got a new computer for Christmas, it is an emachine T2865, when I first tried to download this program when I clicked on detect drive it told me that my computer does not have a drive that supports this program. I took my computer back to Best Buy and they took out one of my drives and replaced it with a Buslink CD-RW/DVD-ROM Drive, while I was there the technician used my clone program and copied a newer karaoke disk using this new drive to prove to me that this drive would work. It copied the karaoke disk perfect. Now I return home and again downloaded your program and when I went in and clicked on detect drives it now tells me again that it will not support this Micro Studio program. I am really confused! What can someone recommend to me, I only have 3 days left to return this computer. I find it hard to believe that it will not work, is there a way to test it even if it shows NO?
Thank you, Pat |
A cloning program will copy a cdg even if the drive is incompatible. MTU and most of the reputable cdg copying & playing programs have to load an aspi driver and they are compatilbe only with drives that are truly cd+g compliant. (they have to have the ability to read the r-w tracks.)
The only drive I would recommend for this personally is the Plextor. and for me right now it is the plextor 708a. (dvd also) because mtu is planning on adding support for dvd & vcd's to their programs. a Teac drive will in most cases work, but for the price and the quality and durability I only recommend the plextor. I don't work for MTU, but have been using their products for a year now, and Boy do they rock. good luck...... p.s. think that Mtu has a list of approved drives on here somewhere. |
USE OF PROGRAM
Thank you for the reply about the Plextor 708a, is there a way to use the program to test my writer? Both drives show NO for Karaoke. I do not believe that MTU offered a Plextor writer. Where do I get one, do you use an internal or external? I really want to get the right writer, this MTU site seems to have fantastic programs that I know I will use.

Mtu does offer the plextor , as well as best buy, and many others. Mtu gives support, and tests each drive before it goes out.
Internal, or external, it doesnt matter. I have both. internal is more convienient. |
Cloning software doesn't do it all
Patricia, your cloning software can only make a backup copy of the entire disc. Thus, it can use a different reading/writing technique that ignores any special formats, such as CD+Graphics. That technique cannot...
1. Import individual tracks. 2. Play the CDG disc. 3. Assemble or write a CDG disc with just the song tracks you want. Microstudio CAN do these features, as well as make a duplicate copy of non-protected discs. To do these additional features, which eventually you will probably want to have, you must have a CDR/DVDR drive that can read and write the CDG disc format. Only Plextor drives today do this. We sell and support the CDRW 52x IDE interface drive, and the DVD+R 8x IDE or USB interface drive. Click here to review or specs and ordering page. |
cdrw
:m In stead of a paper chase I have CDRW chase. I had a new Lite-On LTR-52246S, Microstudio 2.517 could not see it. After reading a few post in the forum I understood that it was not compatible so I bought a new Plextor PX-W5224TA as this is the one of the drives that many have spoke highly of. Microstudio still shows that I don't have a drive that will work.:f The only drive so far that I have been able to get to work is an old HP 10X CDRW at work and I can't have that one. So I guess my next and only option is to buy the hardware from MTU. Not to be snippy but something’s not right about that to me.
Thanks for letting me vent, I'd be grateful for any insight. Jay P.S FYI when I test from a drive there is nothing at all listed. |
Patricia,
I have 5 Plextor's, all are GREAT! The last one I bought was the PX-708A. It uses both DVD's & CD's... CDG's, not a problem! If you can, I would try and get the PX-708, because it looks like in the next year or two, everything is headed toward DVD's. This way, you'll have the best of two worlds...A great machine, with a duel format! I have used pricewatch.com and always found great buys. Good luck, Ernie |
