disc ejects while writing

I have a problem in microstudio where the disc ejects and a warning comes up about write error or bad medium and the code 04h00h02h03h0Ch09h. I have checked to make sure the auto-insert notification is turned off and enabled the burn proof but this happens everytime. Can you tell me what the code means and what to do to fix this. It only started after I upgraded to Microstudio ver. 5.6 and a hewlett packard 9500 burner. I never had this with my 4X burner and earlier version of microstudio.

I suspect "buffer under run"

Karaokesensei,

The message you are receiving is indicative of two possible problems:
1. Buffer Under run and…
2. Low grade media.

Problem number one.
The error “Write command failed..Read/Write or bad medium detected” is normally caused by a buffer under run. This means that the recorder is not receiving data fast enough for the recording speed.

There is some work-around for this problem:
1. Try recording at a slower speed, even 1X and see if this helps.
2. Close other running applications.
3. Disable screen savers, virus software and any background programs.

Problem number 2.
You may be using low quality media. If this is the case, try a different brand such as TDK or Mitsui Silver. Low quality media is a major problem and creates more coasters that you’ll find in a well run drinking establishment.

Finally, if you really want to enjoy karaoke, you should consider buying a truly certified CD+G burner such as the Plextor line. MTU sells this brand and they guarantee its reliability 100% as each burner is tested before it’s shipped to the customer.

Your HP 9500 is a bit behind the times, checking the specifications at the HP website, I didn’t see where this burner has built-in burn proof technology.

I am inclined to believe that your problem is related to buffer under run.

Here is the link to the specs for your drive at the HP website.

Good luck,

Jon
