Microstudio and Windows XP
 

I cannot get Microstudio to work with Windows XP. I've tried both Home and Professional versions- gotten new ASPI drivers, etc. still will not recognize the drive I purchased from MTU. Still works great with windows 98 machine but time to upgrade that machine.

I upgraded to latest version of Microstudio thinking that might solve the problem- still same thing.

Any thoughts???

Several things you would want to do

1) If you have installed software that came with the drive... uninstall it

2) Go to www.microsoft.com/windowsupdate
Install any service packs first
Critical updates Second
any plug-un updates third ( ie: Directx v9.0, etc)

(any plug-ins that you are not going to use, do not install them)

Then retry the Microstudio software

Did you upgrade from 98 to XP? If yes, did you just insert the XP cd an choose to replace your previous version to XP?

In MY OPINION, the only GOOD way to upgrade to XP WITH OUT ANY problems is to format your existing drive, start your computer with XP (Upgrade CD), it will ask you to insert a previous version of Windows.
Once the installation starts, it will ask you to format the drive? Format with the NTFS option.
After your installation is complete go do all OF YOUR Windows Update starting from the Security, Windows & Drivers if necessary.

The reason I'm telling you this is based on the amount of people that are having problems with they're computer and in most case it's based on a bad installation. I know Windows says that it's all you need to do, insert the cd and do the upgrade!!

Thrust me, I've install windows so MANY times using the Windows way and my method and it's DAY & NIGHT difference!

NO MORE PROBLEM AFTER...
Windows XP install on a CLEAN NTFS drive will work like a charm.

I will recommend a GOOD Freeware.

It's call Ranish Partition, by creating a floppy disk you can boot your computer than format your drive and also create partitions.
