why does it take 27 secs to display 4 lines of lyrics
I am trying to make my first song, the lyrics display very quickly at creation time, but when I hit "play my song" it takes 27 seconds to display the 4 lines of lyrics, therefore it gets behind 27 seconds every 4 lines. At the end of the 4th line, it stops and takes 27 more seconds to paint the next 4 lines. I have tried it on 2 different computers, with the sames result. They both have at least 8 megs of video memory and 128 megs of RAM. What am I doing wrong??? Is it going to look like this when I play it on a Karaoke machine? Even if hit the spacebar as fast as I can so the words fly by, at the end of the fourth line it stops and by the time it deletes the 4 lines on the screen and re-paints the next 4 it is 2 verses behind. I am running Windows Millenium on one system, and Win2K on the other. Is there one operating system that works better than another?, because I have them all.

Read "Some ways to shine up"
Use the 'pause sweep' feature liberally, especially on those third and fourth lines so you can give the sweep a head start at redrawing some lines.
You could also be running into a bug I ran into on Win2K - KHP could be ignoring a keystroke or two. I think this is a DirectX 7/Win2K bug myself, as I've seen stuck keys, etc in Quake 3 Arena that I haven't seen in DX7/Win95. I've yet to try DX8 which is available via Windows Update. Your system is on par with mine except I'm using an ATI Rage 128 AGP card. Even a Rage Pro 4 MB works fine though. |
performance-accelerator
I have seen the same problem.
go to control panel display/setup/advanced set the grahics acceleration slder to minimum and it works! you would think it is the opposite, but it helped me out |
