Help with testing

I am interested in purchasing Microstudio Suite and I have downloaded the demo version. The drive test says YES to my CD burner, a Sony. When I try custom assembly, I get an error message such as the following:

Unable to read AUDIO sectors 0 to 25 on device 1:0:0.
Illegal command request (04h 00h 02h 05h 24h 00h)

I have tried with 3 different CDGs, all new.

Now what?

Thanks for your help.

Maybe a False Yes???

There are drives that incorrectly indicate compatibility. Is yours one that is not on the list that MTU created here? I found this post when I clicked Microstudio Demo on the Home Page

Drives that incorrectly report YES for Karaoke under all versions of Microstudio
The following list of drives DO NOT support the CDG format. However, in Microstudio 2.315 and higher they will show YES for Karaoke when you click the Detect Drives button. Thus, Microstudio CANNOT use these CDR drives for CDG work.

All Teac Drives that show YES, including
CD-W 58E
CD-W540E

All drives starting with HL-DT-ST CDRW that show YES, including
HL-DT-ST CDRW GCE 8160
HL-DT-ST CDRW GCE 8160b
HL-DT-ST CDRW GCE 8320b
HL-DT-ST CDRW GCE 8240b
HL-DT-ST CDRW GCE 8400b
HL-DT-ST RW/DVD GCC-4240N D110

All LG Goldstar Drives that show YES including
LG CD-RW CED-8080B

HP 9500b

All LiteOn Drives that show YES

If you try to run Microstudio with them, you will see this error message:
Error: Unable to read AUDIO sectors 0 to 25 on device 0:0:0 Illegal command request (04h 00h 02h 05h 24h 00h). The device 0:0:0 may be different, depending on how the drive is attached to the computer.

There is no software or hardware fix to make these drives fully support reading and writing CDG Karaoke discs. You must buy a drive that is Certified to copy the CD+G format correctly.

Braverlady,

Although you don't mention the model number of your Sony burner, I am going to assume that it works for karaoke, as most Sony burners do.

I believe you may have an ASPI problem. Please go to the following thread and try both solutions.

Good luck,

Most likely this drive won't work, if you get this erorr message, from what I have seen in the past, means that the drives can partially support the CD+G format, until we try to send the command to it to read the CD+G data. This is why it comes back with this error message stating Error: Unable to read AUDIO sectors 0 to 25 on device 0:0:0 Illegal command request (04h 00h 02h 05h 24h 00h). When it states Illegal command Request, this means that the drive doesn't support the format that you are trying to tell it to read from the drive, in this case the CD+G format.

The only brands of drives that do correctly work are the Plextor drives.
