product information request

Brian - I have decided to purchase Hoster. Congrats to you all - It is absolutely awesome! I understand most everything and have a few questions that I cannot find addressed in the forums.
I have a CDG capable drive in a desktop - I intend to purchase a
laptop myself and use it for shows. I will purchase a USB E card
so l that I can run hoster on both (one at a time):

Can I record and compress my CDG disks using the desktop and
then export those kma files to the hard drive of the laptop.
When I run Hoster on the laptop will the software read the kma
files I exported to the laptops hard drive?

If my software crashes after I loaded it and used it, must I
contact the website to obtain another serial number to run the
original software when I reload?

What is the reason a USB ethernet card must be used vs a
standard PCI ethernet card? The MAC should be able to be
determined and inventoried for security via the standard card
should'nt it?

I will have to purchase the Kar 4 suite from you as well for my
needs and it includes vogone, keyrite, microstudio, and Kpro.
Am I correct in that the only dupe software between the two
packages would be keyrite, as that is the only module that is
common?

thanks for your help.....gamvin@yahoo.com

Thank you for your excellent questions!

I'll try to answer these questions for you:

1. You can run Hoster on either computer if you have a USB card that can move between them. A plug in card can also be moved, but it is more of a hassle as the USB can be swapped with the power on. If you import songs on one computer, you can copy them to the other one. Our next beta release of Hoster (expected within a few days) will contain a new automatic feature that detects multiple BookIDs in KMA imported files, and automatically renumbers the latter one to the next highest available BookID number. This will make it painless to transport songs between your two machines. Be sure you don't end up with a second copy of Hoster and only one copy of your songs as you want to always be legal and pay for every copy you have in use. If not, the FBI can take ALL your computers, audio gear (speakers included) and all karaoke gear and songs. Be cool and be legal. :c :)

2. If my software crashes after I loaded it and used it, must I contact the website to obtain another serial number to run the original software when I reload? NO. Simply run the program again after rebooting Windows if your computer crashes. If you purchase our dual hard drive Laptop, we have backup software that comes standard on this model to make an exact copy of your primary drive to the second drive. Then, if your primary drive failed during a show, you can be back up and running within about 2 minutes. We have thought of everything.

3. What is the reason a USB ethernet card must be used vs a standard PCI ethernet card? The MAC should be able to be determined and inventoried for security via the standard card should'nt it? The primary reason is mentioned in #1 above. USB is NOT a requirement, it offers a very valuable flexibility to move between your two computers. You can use any Network MACID number, and the KProID.exe program will detect and display all installed in your computer. You can then choose which one you have the Serial Number created for.

4. Keyrite in Hoster uses the same core algorithm, but it is very different code that is FULLY and CAREFULLY integrated into Hoster. This allows you to change a song while the singer is on stage and singing, and indicates they need a key change up or down. :c
