Eileen,

Give us a bit more information such as:

Which burner do you have?

Which version of MicroStudio and which operating system?

Eileen,
As Jaddams has stated we need to know what version of Windows you are running? Your CD-R drive?

This problem is either caused by using cheap media or it is also a generic error for a Buffer Underrun. This means that the data is not getting from your computer to the CD-R drive fast enough. If you have a Plextor drive and you are running Windows 98 or ME, make sure that you have the Auto Insert Notification unchecked in Device manager and that DMA is checked.

I am running windows 98 2nd ed. 4.10 2222A and usinf plexwriter 8/4/32A ( purchased from MTU ). auto notification is unchecked and dma is checked. Just downloaded 2.400 . this was also happening with prior version. also I have turned off programs running in background. went to a slower write speed. 4x still not working properly. will try 2x

Eileen,

If I remember correctly, the 8Plex you are using is a fairly old burner that came out before the "burn proof" technology was implemented.

Although it is certified to write CDG karaoke disks, this drive was plagued with Buffer Underrun problems. I had one of those burners and produced more “coasters” than you can imagine.

If this is the case, you should consider buying a newer certified burner like those sold by MTU. Most burners today, have built-in “Buffer Underrun Protection.” One of my computers is running with the same configuration you have, excect I have a Plex40, and it run perfectly.

Good luck

Jon

Thank you. The new 48/24/48 plexwriter did the trick. I am having fun again.
