microstudio wont install error:1610

i downloaded the new version of microstudio2.4
i tried to uninstall 2.31.5 and nothing happened.i shut down the pc and it was gone.
i then tried to install 2.4 and got the message:
an error occurred during the move data process:-1610
now neither program will install.......same message.
there are no problems with any other programs.
i am running windows 98se.
does anyone have a list of the files and where they are so i can see if there are any that are left behind from the older version
any suggestions would be appreciated

Farmertom,
Thanks for this information. I was not aware that the registry would fix this problem.

Farmertom,
This error is referring to the installshield that is built into Windows. The problem means that you have something in your Microsoft Installshield files built into your Operating System. The only known way to correct this, from Microsoft and Installsheild is to reformat the computer and reload the operating system.

I have sent you a new link this time, please download the file once and burn it to a disc, then keep this as the install that you use. No matter what the file is, it is going to still give you the same error message of 1610 until you fix the problem in your operating system.
