CDG file is so big!

Why is .cdg file so big after I have saved it with Karaoke Home Producer? Other .cdg file I have downloaded is about 1-2 mb. And .cdg file i have created with KHPro is about 26 mb. Why?

Look At A CDG

Put a CDG in your CD Rom Drive & look at the size of each track.

I have never seen a 1-2 MG CDG file, you are probably looking at a shortcut to a file.

It's not the cdg itself either. Am currently working on a cd full of James Bond Songs in KHP and got curious after reading this thread. Goldfinger is 28.9 mg in .WAV form and after processing through KHP as CDG the file is 32.7 mg. The difference obviously being the lyrics. sweeping, title and credits pages.

Could possibly be as Wayne said or perhaps you're seeing the size of compressed files prior to downloading. Dunno, just a guess.

A CDG file is only the lyrics. It's not the music. I have downloaded a lot of karaoke songs with mirc. One mp3 file and one cdg file. Mp3 file is the music and cdg file is the lyrics. cdg file is about 1-2 mb. Thats it!!! If you don't believe me, I can send you a cdg file.

When you create a .cdg file in Karaoke Home Producer it includes the lyrics, the graphics, and the music.

Hope this helps

George

A more detailed explanation of CDG is in the introduction portion of the KHP manual under the heading "What Does CDG Mean and What Is It?"

Rabagast,
You are using a totally different format of .cdg files than we support. Our form of CD+G file is the uncompressed audio and grpahics all together in one file, thus the reason the file is large. It is the same size as the .wav file as George stated plus a few MB's.
