WHAT NOT TO DO WITH KHP
Talk about frustration city. Ran into a siege of it these last couple of weeks with wrong color sweeping. No matter what color I selected to sweep with, would frequently sweep in black. When it occurred, no matter how many times I'd redo the song, re-boot the p.c, shut down for 10 min, nothing seemed to work except uninstalling KHPand starting completely fresh. The problem was intermittant, but was showing up quite frequently.I was blaming XP, the video card(Radeon 7500), the drought, the cat, etc. Last week it happened on the other p.c 98SE and Xpro2000 video card. Now I really had cause to wonder. Yesterday I changed my video card just to see, and yikes, the problem was there on the first try. I started messing with different color combinations, and found the culprit.
HERE'S WHAT NOT TO DO! I had developed the habit of occassionaly using the identical colors for the border and the text. It looks kinda neat, but turned out to be the cause of over two solid weeks of frustration. Example; If you want a light green border with matching text you might use 0-15-0. If you use exactly the same settings for both, the sweep color you select, say brown, is not what you'll get. If you vary the setting even by one decimal, say 0-15-0 border and 1-15-1, then everything will be fine, and one can hardly discern the difference. All it would have taken was a simple change in settings. Every time I reinstalled, that was what was happening. Things worked fine until I would duplicate the border and text settings, not dreaming that I was setting up the scene for frustration city all over again. Thought this worth passing on. George P.S. Not everybody will get the same wrong sweep color. I got with Doug Cox at MTU this morning and he duplicated the problem. He asked for a blue sweep and wound up with a "pukey peach".If you are as fortunate as I to get black sweep, and you set your background at black, then the lyrics will disappear off the screen in sync, as they would have been swept. Kinda fun, and perfectly usable, once you know what's going on. |
