If you have hoster 5.4 that let you import mp3 song and you have imported mp3 songs on to an external HD then you connect to a computer with an earlier version of hoster and rebuid your song data base on that computer, will the older version recognise and play the mp3 songs?

You really should have the same version for it to work right, not sure if it with an older version as alot has changed and even more to come soon!
