Xp and 98SE users

XP users, if you're tired of squinting try this:

Right click on desktop
select Properties
select Appearance
select Effects
Check the box next to"use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts"
click the arrow and select Clear Type
click o.k. and back out as normal

98SE users;
right click on desktop
select Properties
select Effects
check block next to Smooth Edges Of Screen Fonts
click o.k. and back out as normal

This probably also works on other Windows versions, but only having XP and 98SE I can't say for certain.

Big mystery is why Microsoft doesn't send this out as the default? :?

Couldn't think of anyplace really applicable to post this. Wish at times we had a "P.C.Tips" forum for sharing this kinda stuff.

P.C. Tips

Great Idea George!

I think MTU needs to add that. So many of us, in using MTU software, invariably run into other window problems. Whether it be excell/access programs we use to do our song books or just our settings. This forum is a wealth of information. And everyone seems to be great at sharing what they know. It seems to me that MTU would add this as just another service in their already great program of providing great service for great products.

Ummmm.....

It is unwise for an application to monkey with your OS default settings. That is beyond our "safe scope" of things to do. :e

However, it is a great idea, and I've added it to the manual. Thanks George! :)

Dave,
Thanks, but the request, and Kelly's support was for a forum to share p.c. tips, not for any applications to monkey with our os default settings:?
