Any one have tried this online song book?

Has any one tried this online song book? Or something similar?

https://www.songbookdb.com/apps/

Is mtu getting into this kind of stuff soon on next releases? This will save some trees on those printed books.

I tried it sometime ago. I believe there is a monthly charge now to use it. Not positive.

I don't use these programs, but I have a friend that uses http://songbookslive.com and seems to like it. I think it costs him $11/year...

i just bought songbook live and it wont let me activate the software it came with.

$19 a year is cheap for a songbook online. they need an app for it though

If it won't let you activate it, is it useless?:?

Re: Any one have tried this online song book?

i didnt need to activate it.

the only thing wrong with it is it only lets you search the title or artist. no book ID or Disc ID MTU wont let them.

MTU needs to get the ball rolling so we can do this. its simple and cheap !!

I did the demo of this one, actually it did a real nice job. The search is similar to Hoster where you can type a name (first name last name or last name, first name) and it will bring up all of their songs. Or just a portion of title or a combo of title/artist.
It date stamps all new songs added. You can activate it to allow singer to send requests from their phones (I refused to allow that). You add your own logos and info so it will look like your personalized songbook and not the same as everyone elses. It does cost

It's like $7 per month if you don't need the singer text request, $15 to add that feature. It also costs to make the book a specific name instead of a generic link. I think that was like $5 more per month. So it's not as cheap as $11 per year, but I'd pay that before I gave anything to Latshaw!

Lonman,

It appears as if you have a problem with Latshaw!

Care to share that?

Bad customer service a few years back. Wasn't so much with me directly, but with a company I was working with. They made him feel like a complete idiot and implied he was stupid, also that his computer was to blame over the program not working correctly (but this is not an uncommon scenario, look at other karaoke forums and you'll get the gist). It was a brand new computer at the time, over spec'd as far as their minimum requirements & their recommendation was to get another computer. I was with him when he made the call and we were on speaker phone so this isn't 2nd hand info. He went with another software after he couldn't get it to run & that works fine - still not Hoster though, I tried.
They also take kj feature requests and will flat out say that kj's don't need that feature if he feels it's not needed - at least Hoster (even Compuhost) will listen and TRY to implement the new features if they can - but won't just say kj's don't need this feature so it won't happen - I hear this from their users all the time that they'd like the features of other hosting programs but will live with not having them as they like the program otherwise. Hoster is a lot more diligent about adding and trying to consider useable features than any other brand it seems. Some which are pretty much exclusive to Hoster.

I agree. There karaoke program is nice and it has some nice features but like you experienced, they are not very friendly. One thing I think is absolutely crazy is if you want to add a couple of new songs you have to update the entire database instead of just being able to add to it. I admit that adding a data base to their program is extremely fast but I just don't get the company.

Wondering how many of you are currently using SongbookDB and its App (or any other similar option). We would like to try it… I really appreciate any inputs. Thanks a lot.

I use it and it is great. The only problem is, if your following doesn't use it then it is useless.

I use it along side regular books. Most still prefer books (even the young singers), but some are starting to use SongbookDB a little more.

I set it up as a kiosk by mounting an 8" tablet on a mic stand.

When people try that I tell them they can install the app on their phone if they want. Then they don't have to enter their name each time.
I still have books as some people prefer browsing them but the SongbookDB app is very easy to update each month with new songs unlike the books that you can only tag pages in the back.

Here's a short video showing my kiosk:
