New Computer Spec
I've been looking at this new 3 in one computer from Asus as it runs Windows 8 and Android using these processors: Intel® Core™ i5 4200U Processor
Tablet : Intel® Z2560 The computer is this one: http://www.asus.com/uk/Notebooks_Ult...X201LA#gallery Now the only thing I'm unsure about is the Graphics are Integrated Intel® HD Graphics 4400 . In the past it was always recommended to have dedicated graphics memory which I have always had. Does anyone else run with these new Intel integrated graphics OK now ? Any other comments on the product welcome. |

No I haven't purchased it. I have noted that the new computers that MTU are offering, 2 of them only have the Intel HD Graphics 4000 Shared graphics and one has the Integrated Intel® HD Graphics 4400 the same as this one so they must be OK to use now.
I'm still thinking about it, I fancy a touch screen computer but still thinking I might get a separate Android device as well, there's no rush, I'm waiting to see MTU's remote operating device before I make my mind up.:r |
Re: New Computer Spec
Well I finally got myself a Windows touch ultrabook.
The model I settled for was a Samsung series 7 ultra. (NP74OU3E-SO2UK) The spec is Intel core I5 processor, 128GB SSD hard drive, 6 GB Ram, 1GB VRam. 13.3" full HD display. I'm still coming to terms with the Windows 8 environment but liking the touch screen features. :) It boots up in seconds which I like, I have all my music on a 1TB USB Drive, so far the small hard drive is not a problem. |

Re: New Computer Spec
Well it's an older laptop running Vista, but it has Intel integrated graphics chip and it's never exhibited any issues on the dual screen.

Are you still happy with this machine? I have been looking into it a bit and it appears it has only 1 usb port and a hdmi port but no vga port. Kind of expensive. With the 128GB solid state hard drive it must be lighting fast. Walt:g |

I'm am happy with it but I would not recommend it specifically for running Hoster due to the smaller screen size. I have it set to a smaller resolution 1366 x 768, to make it appear bigger on the screen mainly to make it easier to use as touch screen, only trouble with that is you see less of the playlist area and need to scroll it more. Using it at it's native resolution 1920 X 1080 and using it as none touch for Hoster it's fine. I'm just using it as a backup for Hoster at the moment, It has 3 usb ports one of which is a usb 3 port, it has HDMI and a mini VGA port for which I had to purchase an adapter to convert it to standard VGA. The 128 GB SSD drive is very quick at booting up but other than that I don't really notice any difference with the running of programs. Quite a bit of that 128GB is used up by the operating system and the hidden portion holding the system restore to factory files that I have kept on it although you can copy those to a backup disc to free up more space. Ther is a multi type SD card slot on the side for extra storage space. As I have all my music on an external usb drive that I just swap from one computer to another the smaller internal drive is not a problem as yet, another nice feature it has it a backlit keyboard. For general use and for an on the go computer it is very good with exceptional battery life and very light for carrying around and I must say I do like the touch screen, find myself using that all the time. It does run Hoster Ok including videos and I notice the CPU is working a lot less hard than my exising one. I'm happier using my 15" Acer for shows, as we get older a bigger screen is easier on the eyes :g |

Thanks so much for all the info. I have seen several adds at various places and the specs they give didn't indicate a vga port or more than one usb port. I am going to have to replace my backup Vista HP Laptop soon and I am torn as to which way I want to go. My show laptop is a Toshiba Satellite, Intel I7, 6GB Ram, 750 GB HD and I have really been happy with it. Like you I have my songs on an external HD. My Toshiba has the lighted keyboard and that is really nice in dark rooms. Like you, my eyes aren't what they used to be so the screen size should be an issue for me. I'll make up my mind one of these days. Anyway, thanks again for the info. Walt:g |
