singers database

Hello, I am wondering if someone knows the database listing the songs is found. I removed all my super cd converted files and now my singers database is only partially displayed. When I search the singer's name it comes up but most of their songs are. By singers I mean the singers who are at the show. I edit songs and place the singer's name next to the actual singer as indicated. Presley, Elvis/john1. This way by just pulling up john1 it brings up all that singers songs. I have tried everything I know and still find them. Any help please? Maybe you also know why when I bring up another program the upper left hand display stays on top of the others. This didn't happen in other versions of Hoster as far as I can remember Thanks Alan

The answer to your last question, always on top is: Tools Menu/Show Display Preview Button then un tick the always on top box and press apply.

Regards your singers database I'm a bit confused.
When you say "I removed all my super cd converted files and now my singers database is only partially displayed" how did you remove them ?
If you deleted them using explorer then you would need to rebuild the database for Hoster to know they are removed.
I don't understand why you need to append a singers name to the artist name when using the singers search feature.
There is a search field in the search dialog for the singers name as shown in attachment. Selecting the small folder icon there displays whoevers name is displayed in that search field.
To put a song in a singers database you press the S+ button instead of the add button, that creates that singers database.
Any edits to the singers name can be done by selecting the main singers button then choose singers button in that dialog, to edit use rename.
There is a Refresh button in that dialog that should repair errors.

Are you searching for your singers names in the ordinary search field so that is why you append a singes name to the song.?

The only safe way to edit the names in these fields is via the Hosters own Tools/edit songs dialog.
If you edit outside of Hoster then you will lose most of the edited info when you rebuild the database.

The actual singers & songs .mdb's databases are in the main Hoster data folder but I would not try editing them that way or you could cause other problems.

Re: singers database

Hello Roy, Thanks for the help the other day. All works well when importing ripped files. The problem with singers database is the way I keep my singers list other then the singers drop down list is to edit songs and after the artist name I place a "/" and then my singers name followed by #1#. This way I can pull up the singers songlist by doing a search and for example typing in the person's name as follows: Cheryl1, Cecil1 etc etc. This I do not have to search for each song and they have their list of songs to choose from. Each time I get new singers I edit the songs they sing and repeat the operation. I find that this makes the singers feel as if they are gettinng special treatment and keeps them happy. Sometimes we have to do a normal search and when I get home I edit songs and add the singers name plus "1". I doo keep all songs after played so I can do this. I believe this makes me a better KJ. The drop down singers list only shows what they have sung and not the saved list of their songs. I hope this makes things a bit clearer. I see what you mean by always on top. Already did it and that's what I wanted.

About my screen displays, I was wondering why when my displays come up on monitors (tvs) the 20" and the 42" are perfect, but the 32" does not show the marquee or the singers lines. It only shows the words which are nearly off the screen at the top and bottom. If I adjust the screen on the 32" then the other 2 only display half the screen but all 3 show the entire displaty

Re: singers database

I reckon you have the 32" TV screen picture set to zoom.
As all TV setups are different I can't tell you exactly how to find that setting on the 32" tv. You can usually find a button on the remote for this under picture size, if you don't have the remote for it look in the TV menu for picture settings, sometimes they have zoom level 1 to 4 which enlarges the centre but cuts the top and bottom of.

Regards the way you keep your singers data, if you are happy with the way you do it then by all means stick with it but I fail to see the advantage in what you are doing and only see extra work in editing.

The latest Singers database lists all songs that a particular singer has sung with a record of when they last sang it, how many times they sang it and you can choose to print or display on screen sorted in any order you like and choose which columns to display, the only extra work involved is pressing the S+ button when you add a new song or singer.
It takes no longer to enter a singers name in the singers field than type it in the search field. It was designed to be as flexible as possible.

Re: singers database

Thanks again Roy. I do realize what you are saying about the singers names, but this only shows me the songs sung as you said, I like to be able to have the singers come up to me and search their songlist and for them to choose as many songs as they want to, not that they will be able to sing all. About the 32", I don't have the remote as it came from a pawn shop without. I as far as I know have checked all the picture settings and have not found any that zoom in/out. I don't know if a universal remote will do the job or not. I may just have search for one online. Thanks again Alan
